The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade has extended beyond Delhi and has chosen West Bengal as the region to establish its first ever campus outside Delhi. The Government of West Bengal has allotted a land of 7 acres with a provision for further three acres in 2006 regarding the same. With the active support of both Central and State Governments, the Kolkata campus of IIFT will be operational from its own premises in this year. The new campus will be having all the state-of the art facilities for International Business education, training and research. In order to make the campus more relevant to the region, it is proposed to offer courses more specific to the region which can help the industry to get the right manpower addressing the current demands of the environment.
