Goa University was established on 01 Jun 1985 under the Goa University Act of 1984. Goa University focuses on imparting a variety of programmes ranging from Bachelor to Doctoral in the fields of Language and Literature, Life Sciences and Environment, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Business Management, Commerce, Medical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences and Law. Goa University North Goa provides a plethora of courses in various disciplines at the undergraduate, postgraduate, philosophy and doctoral levels. The university also provides PG diploma courses for admission. The admission is based on the merit list prepared on the basis of rank obtained in the Goa University Admissions Ranking Test (GU-ART) test in relevant subjects.

Goa University offers M.Phil and Ph.D courses in various disciplines. The admission shall be made on the basis of personal Interview and the entrance test conducted by the respective departments. The admission for these courses shall open twice per year. The details of the eligibility criteria for the courses admission are given below:
