Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Lab

• The Pharmaceutical Biotechnology laboratory is designed to provide practical exposure to tissue culture research and training in the areas of Biotechnology and Microbiology.
• Several strains of bacterial and fungal microorganisms are maintained and different antimicrobial studies are carried out.
• Facilities are available to conduct routine industrial studies like bacteriological analysis of water, an assay of vitamins and antibiotics.
• Facilities are present to carry out microbiological screening of natural, synthetic and semi-synthetic preparations.
• The laboratory is developed following the updated cGMP guidelines so as to accommodate facilities required for conducting research studies, consultancies and industry-sponsored works related to primary and secondary screening of microorganisms for their enzyme, antibiotics and amino acid production by fermentation.
• It is well maintained by competent and trained technicians and the equipment are validated on a timely basis by industry personnel.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry

• Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a discipline with a traditional focus on organic synthetic chemistry with the broad goals of drug discovery and optimization.
• The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Laboratory is well developed to conduct research studies on mechanistic drug metabolism, toxicology, and bioanalytical chemistry.
• It gives practical training on the synthesis of various drugs and performs their identification and evaluation studies.
• It carries out analysis of biochemical constituents of the body, pharmaceutical formulations and drug products.
• It also imparts practical training on carrying out limit tests and detecting impurities in pharmaceutical formulations.

Pharmaceutics Laboratory

• The Pharmaceutics laboratory is well equipped with state of art equipment for conducting experiments on dispensing various prescriptions, formulating various dosage forms like tablets, capsules, emulsions, suspensions, syrups, etc. as well as for carrying out their evaluation parameters.
• It is designed to impart practical training to students in pharmaceutical engineering, formulation and development studies, preparation and evaluation of novel and controlled delivery systems and experiments relate to Physical Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics.

Pharmacognosy Laboratory

• It is well maintained by competent and trained technicians and the equipment are validated on a timely basis by industry personnel.
• The Pharmacognosy laboratory is well equipped with facilities to conduct experiments on the physical, chemical, biochemical and biological properties of natural drugs, including the search for new drugs from natural sources.
• It also imparts practical training on various areas like identification of crude drugs and their adulterants with the help of advanced instruments, isolation and separation of chemicals from the plants and quality control of herbal formulations.
• The laboratory is developed so as to accommodate facilities required for conducting research studies, consultancies and industry-sponsored works related to the standardization of drugs and formulations obtained from herbal sources.

Pharmacology Laboratory

• It is built as per CPCSEA guidelines for pharmacological and toxicological experimentation.
• The practical experiments are performed on simulated software that mimics the biological systems.
• The Pharmacology laboratory is well equipped with state of art facilities to conduct experimentation related to biological effects, molecular mechanisms and therapeutic uses of drugs.
• It imparts training to determine the effects of chemical agents upon subcellular mechanisms that focus on the treatment and prevention of major diseases by drug therapy, establishment of dose, dosage, efficacy and safety of medicines, their mechanisms and disposition.
• It conducts studies on neural and endocrine systems, cardiology, pulmonary, epilepsy, clinical pharmacology, pre-clinical toxicology and drug metabolism.
• The laboratory is being developed so as to accommodate facilities required for conducting extensive pre-clinical research studies in the areas of metabolic disorders, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, cardiovascular problems and pesticide residues toxicology.
• A multi-compartment animal house is designed which is well furnished to provide facilities for breeding and housing for experimentation through weaning of laboratory animals like mice, rats, rabbits and guinea pigs etc.
