The Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education (DDCE) has started as the University Evening College in the year 1962 with an objective to provide continuing education. It is affiliated under Utkal University and is recognized by the UGC. Utkal University has been reaccredited by NAAC with A+ Grade in December 2017. The university aims to be a centre of excellence in higher education with a focus on innovative teaching, learning, research, consultancy and extension activities for building an enlightened, creative and productive civil society. "Education for all" is the motto of the university. The logo of the University has a book and a lamp at the centre signifying pursuit of knowledge and kindling the light of knowledge.

DDCE courses are offered in regular mode and distance mode on ug, pg and management programmes. DDCE has introduced several new programmes with the aim of providing an opportunity to those who are unable to pursue higher education in the conventional mode of teaching.

DDCE Utkal has very good infrastructure like Computer labs, library, Banking facility, etc. Some of the amenities provided by the university are mentioned below.

• The University campus is settled in 15 acres of land, 25 classrooms, 3 air-conditioned conference room, 1 dining room and 3 Computer Cell. Apart from that DDCE provides 5 parking shed for the students and faculty, 5 garages and 2 Tube well.
• In the Information Technology area, there are 99 computers, 6 LCD Projectors, 3 Scanners and Servers, 3 laptops and 14 Printers. The Software used is Visual Studio enterprise edition, SQL Server Standard edition and Firewall-01.
• DDCE Utkal University has a well-equipped library having more than 18479 books including Newspapers, Magazines and journal with a seating capacity of 80. Also, the library has Inflibnet Connectivity and N-Computing-18 Nodes for e-reading.
• DDCE Utkal has a good and working Banking facility inside the campus. An ATM and Bank are working for the students. The banks working are Syndicate and ICICI with all facilities like Online Payment, E-receipt, etc.
• The garden area in the university has 2 lawns, a fish pond, 5 seasonal beds and a mango+coconut groove.
• The University Campus is enabled with a good internet connection with a speed of 8 Mbps. 
• A platinum Jubilee Building is under construction with 5 floors and 7000 square feet.

DDCE Eligibility Criteria:

DDCE offers numerous courses under multiple disciplines. All the courses have different eligibility criteria and selection procedures. The criteria and admission process is mentioned below.

DDCE Utkal University - Distance Education Admissions:

DDCE Utkal University Distance Education admissions can be done by applying Online. The Admission process for Management and Computer applications programmes are the same. DDCE will allot a slot for appearing the online exam. The result will be published on the same day as the online exam. All Original documents should be submitted for verification on the selection day.

The selection process for Management and Computer science programmes are:

• Online admission Test at DDCE will be on any working day for Business Management and Computer Science Programme.
• Online Test shall consist of 100 Multiple Choice Questions covering Reasoning, Comprehension, English Language and Quantitative Techniques.
• Personal interview in addition to on Line Test will be held for MBA Evening, P.G Dip in Banking and Insurance Management and MCA programmes.
• The result will be published on the official website on the same day.

All original documents such as Original C.L.C., Migration Certificate (for the Candidates from other than Utkal University) and Caste certificate for SC and ST candidates are required at the time of admission. A set of self-attested copies of mark sheets and certificates from 10th class onwards along with originals are required for verification. 

Each candidate is required to carry a photo identity card ( Aadhar Card/Driving license/ PAN Card / Voter’s I Card or Identity card issued by employer/ educational institute etc.) for the online test for Management and Computer Science Programme.

For the PG and UG courses, the selection process is based on First Come First Serve basis. All documents like Migration certificate, caste certificate and original CLC should be submitted at the time of admission.
