INFRASTRUCTURE & TRANSPORTATION

The food is good at the hostel. The infrastructure is too good. The hostel facility is also good. For both boys and girls, separate hostels are provided. The rent paid by the students is Rs. 4000 per month which is very reasonable compared to other outside PG and hostels.

Yeah, there are separate hostels for both boys and girls. I don't know the cost. And food meal starting at INR 40 rupees.

Alpha Arts and Science College, [AASC] Chennai Infrastructure Details

HOSTEL

Hostel accommodation is provided to both male and female students of the College in a beautiful and serene campus located close to the College. Application forms for the hostel are available at the college office. Students seeking hostel accommodation are expected to submit a written request countersigned by their parent or guardian.

All hostelites are expected to abide by the rules of the Management. Guests or outsiders are not allowed to enter the hostel without prior permission of the warden. Hostelites must pay the fee for the whole year at the beginning. A student leaving the hostel during the course of the year will forfeit the fee paid. The hostel opens a day prior to the reopening of the college. Parents are expected to accompany their wards at the time of admission.

TRANSPORT

The College offers shuttle services from Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Hospital [SRMC] to the College. The shuttle service is available for both Shift I and Shift II students. The college office may be contacted for information on the timings of the shuttle trips.

The College has well-organized transportation facility covering all parts of the city to enable easy commuting to college.

CANTEEN

The college has a canteen that caters the taste buds of the multi-ethnic population of the campus.

Women's Common Room

The college provides a common room for women students of the college to rest or relax during the break.

Physical Education

The Department of Physical Education established in the year 1996 trains’ students of the college in games and sports. The Department offers the services in coaching and training of sports such as Kabbadi, Ball Badminton, Kho-Kho, Cricket, Basket Ball, Volley Ball, Hand Ball and Throw Ball.

Gymnasium

The gymnasium is equipped with suitable equipment for physical fitness sessions. It is open to all students and staff and functions after college hours.

Utility Centre

The Utility Centre run by the Entrepreneurial Development Cell of the college sells stationery and snacks at a reasonable price to benefit the college community. The centre functions during the break and after college.

Parking

The College also provides ample parking space for students and staff vehicles.

Book Bank

Every department has a book bank. Students who cannot afford to buy the prescribed textbooks may borrow them from the book bank and keep them for their personal use either for the entire semester or for a shorter period of time, depending on the demand and the number of books available.  

Health Care

The institution has tie up with Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Porur in the neighbouring compound as an outsource for health care services for students and staff.  

LIBRARY

The Library, housed in the first floor of the main block, is automated and follows the open access system. It is committed to knowledge enhancement of faculty and students through effective use of recent technology in the field, in addition to the other services offered for the purpose. The library offers an interesting collection of books, journals, periodicals and magazines, newspapers, CDs, DVDs and online resources – national and international - to facilitate reading and referencing. Library resources are updated every year through the supervision of the Library Advisory Committee. The library houses different sections under one roof for the convenience of its users. New Books are displayed for the benefit of staff and students in the Library. A specific library hour is allotted for each class in the regular time table. As part of Library Day Celebrations the library conducts a quiz on Books and Authors.

The Library is open on all working days from 8.15 a.m. to 3.15 p.m.
