Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted the class 12 biology exam 2020 on 14th March 2020. The total duration of the exam was three hours and was scheduled from 10.30 AM to 1.30 PM. CBSE class 12 board exam biology 2020 was the fourth main exam for students from the Science stream after English, Physics and Chemistry that were conducted earlier. Class 12 biology exam is marked out of 100 marks where 70 marks come from the theoretical examination while students are assessed through practical examination for the remaining 30 marks that are conducted prior to the commencement of CBSE class 12 exams.

CBSE class 12 biology paper 2020 was divided into five sections - Section A, B, C, D and E. The number of questions and the weightage of questions within the section is different and is given in more detail in the table below.

All questions are mandatory and no overall choices were provided. However internal choices for a few questions in sections A, B, C and E have been given. Two questions from section A carrying one mark each were provided with choices. Choices were also provided for one question from section B, two questions from section C and finally all three questions from sections E.
The weightage of each unit from the prescribed CBSE class 12 biology syllabus by NCERT is as follows:
- Reproduction - 14 Marks
- Genetics and Evolution - 18 Marks
- Biology and Human Welfare - 14 Marks
- Biotechnology and its Applications - 10 Marks
- Ecology and Environment - 14 Marks
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Biology Paper Students Analysis
The level of difficulty for this year's class 12 biology paper was moderate. All the questions that were present in the class 12 biology exam came from the topics of the prescribed syllabus of NCERT. Some of the questions that were asked in CBSE class 12 Biology paper 2020 is also expected to be very similar to the questions that were asked in previous years papers. The section that most students found more difficult as compared to other sections was section C. Students agreed that the class 12 biology paper 2020 was well-balanced and could be finished on time.

According to teachers, this year questions asked in the CBSE class 12 biology paper 2020 were more straightforward and high scoring, there weren't any tricky questions. The questions that were present were similar to what was expected by looking at previous years paper as well the CBSE class 12 biology sample paper. Compared to the MCQs in other subjects which students found quite tricky, the MCQs of the class 12 biology paper was easy and balanced. Compared to last year, when HOTS questions and ones that required clear conceptual knowledge were more, this year also although they were present, easier alternatives were given for students to choose from.
