Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted class 12 chemistry exam on 7th March 2020. The examination was conducted between 10.30 AM and 1.30 PM across the country. Around 644552 regular students are said to have appeared for the CBSE class 12 chemistry exam that was carried out in 4774 centres in different cities across the country. Chemistry exam is inclusive of practical and theory exams. The practical exams worth 30 marks was conducted before the commencement of CBSE class 12 theory board exams. CBSE class 12 chemistry paper is worth 70 marks.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Chemistry Paper 2020 Student's Analysis
CBSE class 12 chemistry paper is divided into 4 sections carrying different weightage. According to students who appeared for the CBSE class 12 board chemistry exam, difficulty level of the paper was considered to be between easy and moderate when compared to CBSE class 12 physics exam. The exam could be finished on time and most students chose section C to be slightly more difficult than the other sections present. Some students also found section A which had multiple-choice type questions to be easier while assertion-reasoning type questions to be slightly trickier.
The chemistry exam 2020 only included questions that were a part of the prescribed syllabus. The CBSE chemistry paper 2020 pattern and difficulty level of questions were quite similar to that of CBSE class 12 chemistry sample papers released by the board.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Chemistry Paper 2020 - Teacher's Review
One of the teachers agreed that reasoning questions required a little deeper understanding of concepts whereas numerical and chemical equations were easier and did not require a lot of time to solve. Some teachers also said that the chemistry paper had questions that were straightforward and about 70% of the questions were directly picked up from the prescribed syllabus of the NCERT textbooks.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Chemistry Paper 2020 Pattern
There was a slight change in the CBSE class 12 chemistry exam pattern this year. The total number of questions that were asked in the paper was 37. CBSE chemistry paper 2020 for class 12 students was divided into 4 sections as follows:
Section A - It consisted of 20 very short answer type questions or multiple choice type questions. Each question carrying 1 mark.
Section B - This section consisted of 7 short answer type questions, each question carrying 2 marks.
Section C - This section also consisted of 7 short answer type questions but each question carried a weightage of 3 marks.
Section D - The last section has 3 long answer type questions where each question carries 5 marks.
Although no overall choices were provided for students, internal choices within sections B, C and D were given to students as given below.
- Two questions of section B
- Two questions from section C
- Choices for all three questions of section D were given.
