St. Xavier’s College Ranchi was started on July 3, 1944, by the Ranchi Jesuit Society. The college offers multiple vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Admissions in St. Xavier’s College for UG is done on the basis of merit of the candidates and the candidates do not need to appear for any entrance exams. The selection of the candidates will be made on the basis of the marks secured in the Entrance Test.The test is conducted in 2 steps first is the written test based on 12th knowledge skills of students and then the selected candidates are called for the personal interview finally the selection list is displayed on the official website of the college. The cutoff is 60% as if till now

The eligibility criteria for filling the online form for entrance exam is 50% aggregate in intermediate in the concerned subjects and as a whole. After this, there are entrance exams organised by the college for every subject and if the entrance is cracked the student is given the date to come and complete the admission procedure. I took Xavier's BSc biotech entrance exam from the college itself organised at the college campus. As you can see above it's purely based on merit because entrance exam tests your knowledge so no such cutoffs but yes the percentile preferred is most likely between 85 and above.

St. Xavier's college, Ranchi, conducts its entrance examination for all the courses. After the entrance exams, the college publishes a list of all the selected students on its website. It also has the cut offs for different categories. So, if you belong to a general category, make sure to put some extra effort. If your name is on the list, feel free to proceed and take admission. If not, then you must wait for the second list. A second list of selected students will also publish if the seats are empty. As far as the entrance exam is concerned, you need not worry about it. If you have a proper knowledge of your 11th and 12th standard then you can easily clear it. Pattern of the paper includes general reasoning, English, maths, and a little bit knowledge of the course you are about to take.

There will be entrance exam conducted by the college itself in college. And the application form of the college is being filled online. There is no cutoff marks system you have to qualify in the entrance examination to get admission. Admission procedure for b.sc computer science and BCA is that you have to qualify the entrance exam and then you will be selected for Interview and if you pass in the interview you can take admission.

For admission one must be 12th I.Com pass out. For B.com with accounts honours there must be at least 50% marks in accounts and an additional subject of business maths or Mathematics is mandatory. I took the B.com entrance test which was in MCQ . There is no particular or typical cutoff every year they change the criteria for admission.

Here are the details:

The programme is affiliated to the Ranchi University. The selection of the candidates for admission to different Honours programmes will be done on the basis of an Entrance Test in the subject in which the applicant is seeking Honours. A student may apply for more than one subject.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  • The UG/MCA programme shall be for three years (Six Semesters) and PG programme shall be for two years (Four Semesters).
  • Candidates may apply for more than One Programme/ subject. The payment also is to be made separately for each programme or subject.
  • For admission into Honours degree in any subject it shall be necessary for a student to have obtained not less than 50% marks in the subject concerned and also in aggregate in the Intermediate + 2 examination.
  • For admission into PG programme in any subject it shall be necessary for a student to have obtained not less than 50% marks in the subject concerned and also in aggregate in the degree examination.
  • A student with compartmental result should not apply.

UNDER GRADUATE ADMISSION PROCEDURE 2014-2015

General Information for Admission to B.B.A. 2014-2015

Since its introduction in 2002 under the University of Calcutta, the BBA program has evolved substantially. Today the program offered at St. Xavier’s College is possibly unique given the core values it imparts in terms of Intellectual Depth, Leadership Skills and Social Responsibility. St. Xavier’s approach to management education aims at the holistic formation of future leaders with unmatched professional competence and a strong ethical perspective.

The curriculum is flexible and broad and gives students the opportunity to develop an academic program that is tailored to their ambitions and interests. The college offers specialization in three areas: Financial Management, Marketing Management and Human Resource Management.

Admission criteria for the academic session 2014-2015

  • A candidate may be admitted to the B.B.A. (Honours) course provided he/she has passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2 course conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, or an equivalent examination, recognized as such, by the University of Calcutta, in all the recognized subjects (of full marks not being less than 100) including English and Pure Mathematics/Business Mathematics but excluding Environmental Studies/Environmental Education, subject to the fulfillment of the following other conditions.
     

  • A candidate must secure a minimum of 45% marks in each paper and a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all the papers.
     

  • For applying to B.B.A, Maths / Business Maths / Business Eco with Maths* is compulsory in Plus-II level. (*Business Eco with Maths is a single paper applicable for W.Bengal - HS students only).
     

  • No candidate shall be eligible for admission after a lapse of more than three years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of admission will not be taken into account while calculating 3 years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
     

  • Prospective candidates seeking admission to the course will have to appear for an entrance examination. The entrance examination will comprise of Multiple Choice Questions. The entrance examination will be of one hour duration having 50 marks.
     

The mode of selection will be on the basis of the following weightage:
