Placements and Internships

1.5

The branch placements are not good enough. Most of the students have to go for higher education to different institutes to get good jobs. The student quality is very good as compared to other institutes. But placement is not the focus of the college.

Students have to themselves apply for internships. Not much control is kept by the institute on these organizations. So the quality of internship varies from firm to firm and depends highly on student's self motivation.

The few core civil companies that come to campus, have cpi as major shortlisting criteria. While for final interviews, internship experience becomes most critical.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4.5

College Infrastructure is very good. Location of the institute makes it ideal and easy to travel from nearby cities - Raipur, Bilaspur and Rajnandgaon.

Civil Engineering Laboratories are in great shape and lab assistants are very helpful and knowledgable.

Academics and Faculty

4

Faculty group is the best in the area especially for Structural Engineering Design, Fluid Mechanics, Surveying, Strength of Materials, Environmental Engineering, geotech engineering and Water Resource Management. For few subjects like construction planning and management, there is scope for improvement.

There is no choice of electives which is against the norm of standard institutions and expectation of students.

Professor's are very reachable and encourage discussions outside classes.

Quality of laboratories and machinery used for experiments is best in the region and greatly contributes to skill developement of the students.

Course Material used is a little outdated. But since the college falls under the purview of state technical university not much can be complained for.

Fees and Scholarships

2.5

Not much amount is given for scholarships or financial assistance to students.

Bank loans can be easily accessed though.

Also the institute fee is among the lowest in comparision with other state unversity institutes.

Cost of living - including mess, canteen and hostel is also very low.

Following are some of the awards given:

  • SETH BALKRISHAN MEMORIAL Annual Gold-Medal: by the Institute for the Student of B.I.T. having a position in the merit list of the University- Final Year Examination and securing highest marks (all branches taken together)
  • An annual scholarship of Rs 2,500/- awarded by the Institute for Students of B.I.T. securing highest marks in B.E. 2nd , 4th and 6th Semester Examinations ( all branches taken together).
  • SARDAR INDER SINGH JABBAL Gold-Medal donated by Dr. (Mrs.) Vineeta Nayak and Dr. R.A. Nayak, to be awarded to B.I.T. topper in Civil Engineering in B.E. (Final Year) University examination.
