Placements and Internships

3.5

I have done two projects so far and both of them were in the campus itself. I worked with two professors respectively. Since I am an Inspire fellow, I get a scholarship of INR 5000 per month along with a contingency fund of INR 20000. The placement details are not very clear as almost 3/4 of the people prefer to do Ph.D. after bachelors.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

5

There are close to 7 hostels for boys and 3 for girls. The construction of new hostels is in progress. Hostel bill is INR 1000 per month(maximum). Slight variation among hostels is there. Mess bill also varies depending on which mess you are in. It could range from INR 3000-4500 per month. All the amenities and infrastructure are great. Besides the library, there are lots of other places where you can study.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

The admission into IISc happens in three ways through three different exams. They are IIT-JEE, NEET and most importantly KVPY. Every year majority of the students that come are through KVPY since the cut-offs for the former exams are pretty high. The cut-offs change every year and that depends on the number of students applying and their grades. The website for the college should be approached for this. If you have passed through this which is the first part of the selection, you are called for an interview which will be pretty easy questions.

Academics and Faculty

5

The first three semesters, we have class-cum-lab from 8:30 to 5. After that, we have classes averaging from 2-3 hours every day, exclusive of labs, but you will enjoy it nevertheless because, from the fourth semester, you are the one choosing your courses. The classes are awesome because you are taking the courses with Ph.D. students and that really gives you a lot of exposure. The teaching does vary, but the sincerity is kind of constant in all teachers. I really enjoy the classes and the assignments. It is almost like they really want us to get involved with the class and to understand everything to the last detail. The experiences that this college brings is like no other. You get to interact with the country's best brains every single day.

Fees and Scholarships

5

The course fee is INR 15000 every year. This is excluding the mess and hostel bill which will come close to INR 5000 every month( together). The scholarship available is institute, Inspire, and KVPY. Everybody will get one or the other.

Clubs and Associations

3.5

There are different clubs like dance, music, literature, poetry, linguistics, programming and photography clubs. Most of the festivals are celebrated here. The main event conducted here is an open day where the whole institution holds a large scale science exhibition. It is a very grand event. The other event besides this is pravega, out annual tech, science and cultural fest.
