Placements and Internships
- Placements are quite good but there is flood of CS/IT and consultancy companies comapred to the core comapnies of any other branch.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- Poor. Very old infrastructure. Due lack of classed the timing etra lectures are arranged in time table from monring 8 to 9 and evening 5 to 6. No Air conditioner in majority of classes.
Academics and Faculty
- Major fault in Academics : Only high CGPA students re considered able. In my Opinion there can be students who could not perform in exam but they may be technically sound. I owe average CGPA but I am able as that of high CGPA student. Rest , some teachers are extermely good but some are eactly opposite.
Fees and Scholarships
- Yes, there is an open scholarship of Rs. 3000 per year on merit basis, awarded to approximately 10 students per branch. Rest, Govt. scholarships are available for students under reserved category. Not much for general category.
Clubs and Associations
- There are clubs but they get are active only when there is any function/cultural program/ technical festival in the institute. Rest all the time, they are closed.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : Admissions at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology are based on the JEE mains ranking.
Entrance Exams & Admissions : Students with 80% marks in HSC exams only are considered for the admissions. In my year of application, there were separate exams for IITs and NITs, IIT-JEE & AIEEE respectively. The procedure has changed since then and now there is a common exam for entrance in these institutes. There are two rounds in the entrance exam & both rounds are qualifying. Cut-offs vary yearly. Usually, it ranges from 80 - 85% score in both exams. Since over 10 lakh students appear for these exams, the competition is pretty tough. MNNIT, Allahabad is among top 15 engineering institutes in India and ECE closes at 6000 to 7000 ranks.

Academics & Faculty : MNNIT is one of the best colleges among National institute of Technology. I am the student of B.tech programme (electronics and communication stream). In this college students get every facility to explore their knowledge and develop their skills. The quality and method of teaching are good. Teachers are excellent and ever ready to help students in whichever way possible . Labs are accessible even after the college hours . It is equipped with best technology equipment such as the PARAM SUPERCOMPUTER (purely Indian made), infrastructure, hostel facilities. Not only in the field of academics students of MNNIT are exposed to various other fields like acting , sports , music , photography, painting and public speaking. Fees & Scholarships : Annual tuition fees here is around 1 lakh . The hostel facilities are available with a cost of 13k per semester. Scholarships are available to students by their state boards to those meeting certain grounds. They have to maintain their good academic career and attendance in order to continue their scholarships. Maximum scholarship given is around 70k per year. Around 20% of good meritorious students receive scholarships from college and their state boards. This helps in continuing their studies without having a lot of financial burden on their families. Yes, loans are always needed by some students. They are given easily by SBI and Allahabad Bank to students who apply for it. Also, loans are given for buying laptops which are needed by every student to keep up with the technological world.
