  • The Foundation for Liberal And Management Education is primarily a Liberal Education college situated in Pune.
  • The Undergraduate program at FLAME is a four-year program, with each year divided into three 'trimesters' of three months each.
  • Students at FLAME are required to complete one year of 'foundation' courses which are the introductory courses to a wide array of academic fields categorised into five 'Universes of Knowledge' (Humanities, Fine & Performing Arts, Social Sciences, Global & Language Studies, Physical & Natural Sciences).
  • In each trimester at the foundation level, a student takes up five courses (one from each Universe of Knowledge). After completing the foundation year, the second year focuses on streamlining the student's academic interests towards a Major & Minor (this year facilitates the completion of the credits and other prerequisites for the intended Major & Minor).
  • The third and fourth years are the Major/Minor years, wherein, the student takes up courses that further their academic foray in their Major & Minor.
  • At the bachelor's level, the Liberal Education program provides students with three overarching options - the BA (Including Literary & Culture Studies, Environmental Studies, International Studies, and Psychology), BBA (Business), or BBA (MM).
  • The standard of education one receives at FLAME is extremely high, with the focus on involved learning. Each course (either a Lecture or Seminar or both), requires students to take part in the discussion, produce research papers, engage in frequent tests and most importantly, attend class.
  • The Professors at FLAME actively engage with students within and outside of the Classroom, some Professors stay on campus, making it easier to access them post working hours, however, phone calls and e-mails are promptly replied to by the teachers even if they do not live on campus.
  • The assignments for the courses at FLAME are personal projects of sorts and mostly based on analysis and the production of original content - which enables students to further their research and provides the option of publishing their work.
  • FLAME's Liberal Education program is not restrictive in terms of courses on offer, there is a range of courses students may choose from - however, sometimes due to the need to fulfil credit and other requirements - the courses that a particular student may take can reduce in variety.
  • Classes begin at 9:00am every day, except Sundays, until 5:00pm - however, no student has classes throughout the day.
  • The schedules are flexible and provide ample time for the students to complete course work and take part in extra/co-curricular activities.
