Placements and Internships

3.5

  • The college does not provide a high number of internships. What it does is contacting companies and referring your name for an interview rather than companies coming to the campus to offer internships.
  • The college does decently in terms of placements. More than 30 companies visit the campus for recruiting students from various disciplines. An average package that is provided is Rs 3 lakhs per annum. Since the college is located in Bangalore and the BCA department is one of the best in the country, most companies recruit computer students.
  • The Alumni network of the college is strong which includes Mr.Rahul Dravid(ex-Indian Cricket team captain) and Dr. Devi Shetty. Thus, it is one of the most prestigious colleges in the country.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

4

  • There is no hostel for girls. Only boys are provided with two hostels, one within the campus and another 6kms away from the campus from where students can travel to college using bangalore buses. The hostels are cheap and provide good environment for studying.
  • Canteens are clean and healthy and provide food to students at reasonable prices.
  • College provides Library with all possible books needed for better learning and understanding of a subject. The only disadvantage of the college infrastucture is that they do not have 24 hrs working wi-fi. Apart from that, all the necessary facilities are provided by the college for high quality education.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

  • The eligibilty criteria for St.Joseph's College is 60% marks in your 12th board exams and then there is a interview for which you need to visit the college. After clearing the interview you get admission.
  • There is no entrance tests for St. Joseph's. Admission also depends on number of seats available for the course you are applying. You can get admission till the time seats are not filled even if you have slightly less marks and once the seats are over, students with higher percentage of marks are also rejected.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • Class timings vary for different courses. The arts combinations have less amount of classes compared to science students as the science students have labs and practicals to attend.
  • Teachers are highly qualified and put their best foot forward for imparting proper knowledge to the students. St. Joseph's also believes in peer learning and provides various debate and group discussion platforms for the same. Presentation skills of the students are also payed attention and teachers give assignments that have presentations to be done on many occasions.
  • The college environment is a positive one which provides all needed facilities for a student to learn and grow into a better individual and handle the pressure outside the college.

Fees and Scholarships

4.5

  • The course fee is different for different combinations but yet very less because many courses of the college are government aided. Arts combinations have fees as low as Rs 14,000 per year and science combinations have fees upto Rs 30,000 per year. The BVC and BCA course are comparitively expensive with an annual fees of Rs 70,000 and Rs 60,000 per year.
  • The college does not provide scholarships to students.
  • But none of the courses require bank loans as fees is minimal and even though someone wants a loan, it is readily available from any bank because of less risks due to low amount of loan and also the name of the college.

Clubs and Associations

4

  • There are around 29 clubs and associations in St.Joseph's. Since Rahul Dravid is an alumni of the college, sports is given a lot of importance. There are teams for almost every sport. Also, the college organizes its own sports fest every year.
  • Cultural activities are also given a lot of importance. The fashion team of St.Joseph'sis one of the best in Bangalore. Also there are many talented singers and dancers. Many clubs like photography, Social Works etc. are there to provide more opportunities to students. Also, every department has their own club(like economics department has an Eco Forum) which organize a fest annually. So, all around the year there are many fests that are held.
