Placements and Internships

2.5

  • I have not applied to get stipends before this, mainly cause there is not much sources or guidance provided to us here, but I am trying to get some intership through Internshala. I have applied to some companies, for working as an android developer, web developer, c programmer etc, but have not yet been successful in getting one, though I am still trying.
  •  Companies that come to hire our students are like: Tata Consultancy Services, M N Dastur, Capgemini, Dynamic Digital Technology, Oracle iFlex, Wipro, Ericsson, Tech Mahindra.
  •  Average Salary packages are decent with the highest ranging about Rs 5.07 LPA. The average salary package is Rs 3.62 LPA. Percentage of student placed is 90%.
  •  The alumni network is a strong one with every year different hostel celebrating a day once a year for their senior who passed out of the college.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

2.5

  • There are 4 hostels in total. 1 Junior Hostel [A.P.C], 2 senior hostels for the boys studying in 2nd year to 4th year [RBC, RRR] and 1 Ladies Hostel having 2 buildings in the same boundary [PC]. The Hostel fee per month is approx Rs 2500 per month with a security deposit of Rs 9000/-
  •  There are paying guest in the city where the rent on average is Rs 1600/- per month and fooding cost approx Rs 100/- each day counting to Rs 3000/- per month. Hence the total cost for staying in paying guest is on an average is Rs 4600/- per month+extra expences making it like Rs 5000/- per month.
  •  The food here is tolerable. It's better in hostels but in paying guest the conditions are worse. Each meal cost on an average Rs40/- or 50/- depending on the menu.
  •  The Quality of the classrooms are quite with well equipped labs. The library has a wide spectrum of journals, volumes on technology. The wifi connection is also unquestioned with data speeds going upto 10mbps.The college has a decent infrastructure but lack is not upto the mark.

Academics and Faculty

4

  • It's fine an environment here, something I look everywhere I go. Classes start here at 10:30am each day. Many projects go on specially on computer science, infact I also worked in some projects starting from basic suduko program using C to web development using Django. Twice a year we have our semester examinations. Apart from semester examinations we also have lab practicals where the profesors ensure that the students not only just does the practical but also get knowing the instrument and have an in-depth knowledge. There is our coding club where anyone can contribute by teaching others domains where they have some good knowledge. I started contributing to it in 2nd year when I started giving lectures to the students in college and helping them learn a Harvard Uniiversity course CS50. The students of our college including me, we participate in various coding competitions starting from codedhef to some of the most prestigious competitions like Google codejam and ACM-ICPC.
  • The overall experience here is one where one can learn in a peaceful environment and develop something of your own.

Fees and Scholarships

2.5

  • The course fee here is Rs 12000/- [per year, includes on tutions fee] for Computer science graduates. The course fee varies for different streams. Since I am a Computer Science student so I know the fee structure of Computer Science. But in reality the cost needed to study here is more than this, cause we need accomodations here which is a bit expensive and also we have to register ourselves in various courses which needs a lot of money.
  •  There is scholarship provided from West Bengal Government to the students belonging from cattegories like SC/ST/PWD.
  •  There is no such average who get scholarships like that. If a student belongs from categories like SC/ST/PWD, then they recive scholarship from governmental sources. This precentage normally adds upto a maximum of 10%.
  • Sometimes student needs loan. Cause here there is not only the tution fee but the students also need to register themselves for various other courses which incubates some money in it. There is no such loans provided. If some students need loans then he or she must approach any bank of his or her's choice.

Clubs and Associations

2.5

  • There are various clubs in our college starting from coding club, robotics club, photography club, KGEC E-cell (entrepreneur cell), music club, dancing club. There is also student's association who works for students.
  • The most famous festival in our college is the cultural fest expectro which is famous in India along with the technical fest. Also each of the four hostels has it's own hall day.
  • College life is one of the best one for every student but here in Kalyani there is a special bonding with the faculty the infrastructure the hostels etc. Working late at night in common room developing our websites and apps for android etc, and waking up late for college at 10 then running to college somehow making it within 10:30.

Academics & Faculty : Daily class timing is strict but of course slightly flexible. Projects and assignments are given with enough time to complete them. Exams are well invigilated. The quality and method of teching is really good, it obviously varies from teacher to teacher and the quality of a student. It has a very friendly environment, seniors are great, staff and faculty are supportive.
