Rijwalshah2000's Review on Fergusson College, [FC] Pune

I am currently in my third year. There are seminars and sessions conducted by the college to guide us with our future. Many internships have been provided by the college. But since it's just a BA degree, the scope for jobs and salary figures is comparatively low. I am going to pursue my Masters in English Literature, that will help me grow as a writer and eventually help me find a decent job. 

There are 2 hostels in the college. 1 for boys and 1 for girls. As I didn't live in the campus hostel, I had no idea of the fees there. There are very cost efficient PGs and Hostels outside the college that are very close. I lived in a Jain Girls Hostel that costed around 7 thousand per month. The college canteens are very popular.

People from other colleges and senior citizens come into our campus and enjoy the canteen food. The college campus has a British infrastructure. It looks old and classy. The campus is huge and filled with trees and other interesting monuments. The classrooms are huge, auditorium is very spacious and the library has a lot of books.

Admissions at Fergusson College were based on merit. There was no entrance exam. The scores from the 12th boards were taken into consideration. The cutoff was about 90% for all the students wanting to take admissions. I have filled out the entrance form. I was a science student till the 12th grade so it was hard to score 90% in my boards. I did not get under the merit list. So, my admission was done with the help of management quota.

The classes start at 7:30 in the morning and end around 1 in the afternoon. There are 3 activities in one semester. it consists of CE1, CE2 and the final written exams. The method of teaching is very efficient. The teachers are really helpful. The overall experience was good. There are interesting presentations and seminars that take place from time to time. It is engaging and fun to complete projects and interact with teachers.

For students from Maharastra, the course fee per year at Fergusson College, [FC] Pune is around 20 thousand per year. But, for non- Maharastrian students, it varies from 30-40 thousand rupees. There are no scholarships, but if you score well on the merit list, you can be shifted in the grant section. the grant section is government based and provides lots of opportunities. 

There are a lot of social clubs in the college. The Drama Club is one of the most interesting clubs. It provides opportunities to students who like acting. The Book club is a place where students meet every month and have  discussions on a particular book.

The fest of Fergusson is amazing. Students from different colleges come and attend this 2 day fest that is usually conducted around the end of the year. It feels like a celebration with different departments of the college participating and making the event full of life and laughter. College life is fun, peaceful and interesting.
