What is the NTSE examination?
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) was established by the Government of India in 1961 to improve quality education in India. The NCERT council framed several schemes towards assisting students and encouraging them to continue their studies.The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is one such National Level scholarship program organized by the NCERT. NTSE honours and helps talented students by providing a monthly scholarship for the entire academic career.
Who are eligible for NTSE scholarships?
Under a decentralized scheme, each State/UT can set separate NTSE question papers to select students. The exam structure is the same for all states/UT, i.e., under two sections, SAT and MAT. The eligibility criteria to apply for NTSE exam are,
- The students currently studying in class 10 at a recognized school, including Navodaya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Sainik School, can apply for state-level examination from the state where their school is located.
- Students studying under ODL (Open and Distance Learning) can also apply for the scholarship provided they are below 18 years of age, unemployed, and are appearing for the class 10 examination for the first time.
- The family income of students from all sources must not be more than INR 1.50 lakh.
How many students get NTSE scholarships?
NTSE is an annual scholarship scheme conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training. Approximately 2000 students of class 10 will be awarded the NTSE scholarship for their higher studies.
Is NTSE compulsory for class 10?
No, NTSE is not compulsory for all the class 10 students. Interested students who are eligible to apply for the scholarship can appear for the exam. To qualify for the exam, the students must have completed their class 9 examination with a minimum of 60% marks.

What is the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE)?
The National Talent Search Examination is a scholarship examination conducted by NCERT for students of class 10. National Talent Search Examination Eligibility Criteria
NCERT has created a few basic criteria for students eligible for the NTSE exam 2023. Eligibility includes nationality, educational qualification, age limit, reservation, and many more.

Nationality
- Participants must be Indian citizens.
- Only those participants who are studying in the 10th standard can apply for the NTSE examination.
- Indian candidates studying abroad can directly appear for the NTSE stage 2 examination.
Educational Qualification
- The candidate must secure a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in every academic year to be eligible for the NTSE exam 2023.
Age Limit
- The upper age limit for students is 18 years for the NTSE stage I examination.
NTSE Exam Reservation
NCERT allots a few seats for the reserved category students.
- Students from the general category must secure at least 40% marks in each section, i.e., MAT and SAT.
- Students from the reserved category must secure at least 32% marks in each section, i.e., MAT and SAT.
NTSE 2023 Exam Dates
The candidates are selected after the two-phase screening on state and national levels. NTSE 2023 stage 1 exam will be conducted in February 2023.

NTSE 2023 Registration
Students can register for the NTSE Olympiad exam through 3 methods. Before registering, they should have NTSE 2023 application form details ready. Students can register through their school, collect the application form from the Liaison's office, or apply online.

NCERT does not charge any NTSE exam fee for conducting the stage 2 examination. NTSE exam fee for stage 1 may differ from state to state. Students can check the stage 1 fee requirements from the SCERT website of their respective states.

NTSE 2023 Syllabus
The examination will have two parts: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). SAT has three sections: science with 40 questions, mathematics with 20 questions, and social science with 40 questions.
NCERT has not prescribed any NTSE 2023 syllabus; the questions will be class 9th and 10th standard levels. NTSE 2023 will test candidates' knowledge in non-language subjects of the 9th and 10th standards.

NTSE 2023 Admit Card
Students can download NTSE admit cards for both stages from the NCERT NTSE official site. NTSE stage 2 admit cards will be issued only to those candidates who qualified NTSE stage 1 examination. Candidates can log in to the website using their login credentials and download the NTSE admit card. Participants won't be allowed to take the examination if they fail to carry the admit card with its xerox copy & original ID proof.

NTSE 2023 Results
The NTSE 2023 results for both rounds will be released on the NCERT NTSE official site in a pdf file. NTSE result 2023 stage 1 will be published between January to April, depending on the state/UT the student belongs to. NTSE 2023 results for stage 2 will be announced in September. The NTSE results of the state-level examination will be released as a merit list of eligible students to take up the NTSE exam 2023 at the national level. The final list of candidates will be announced on the NCERT website.

NTSE 2023 Scholarship
The NCERT awards scholarships to the students who qualified for the NTSE exam. A total of 1000 students were selected out of 5000 for the scholarship. Through this NTSE scholarship, students can also get benefits for their doctoral and professional courses such as Engineering & Medicine up to a second-degree level.
