Macmillan Education conducts ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools), better known as IAIS (International Assessments for Indian Schools) in India in partnership with Educational Assessment Australia (EAA), a division of the University of New South Wales (UNSW).

IAIS Mathematics Olympiad 2024

Started in 2004, it is a diagnostic assessment test that shines a light on the strength and weaknesses of a student and helps teachers and parents understand the child’s learning curve and help recognize the difficulties they face.

Along with Digital Technologies, Macmillan conducts three more exams in collaboration with ICAS. They are:

• Science

• Digital Technologies

• English

IAIS Mathematics is conducted for classes II to XII. IAIS Foundation provides an extensive independent evaluation of students’ skills, knowledge, and understanding in these core learning areas, such as algebra, arithmetic, geometry, etc.

IAIS designs questions in such a way that students have to use mathematical concepts and apply them in day-to-day situations based questions. Students appearing for papers introductory will not be allowed to use calculators. These students will not be tested on formal algebra or geometry.

It gives significance to patterns, structures, puzzles, and solving problems involving a spatial arrangement of shapes. Students appearing for higher levels will be allowed to use calculators during the exam and will be tested in formal geometry and algebra.

IAIS Mathematics Registration Process

IAIS Mathematics registration process is done by the respective school. Schools have to contact Macmillan, the organization which conducts IAIS in collaboration with Educational Assessments Australia for registration of the school as an exam center and for student registration.

The school has to then send the details of registration along with the fees to Macmillan. The actual dates will be updated from the Macmillan Education official website. Any information on the exam getting conducted once released by the management will be updated here.

IAIS Mathematics Sample Papers

IAIS Mathematics sample test papers aid students to understand the various aspects of the examination. It helps students to understand the instructions to follow during the exam as well as to test their levels of preparation.

Sample papers assist students by helping them adjust their solving speed, understand the difficulty level of questions, and understand the areas they have to strengthen their concepts in.

IAIS Mathematics Admit Card

Admit card is an important document when attending the IAIS Mathematics examination. IAIS Mathematics admit card consists of a number of details such as roll number, name, and school name. Students are requested to carry the hard copy of the hall ticket to the examination center.

The admit card is sent to the respective schools by Macmillan after the school completes the registration process.

IAIS Mathematics 2024 Syllabus

The syllabus for an exam helps students familiarize themselves with the topics on which the organization conducting the exam asks questions. IAIS Mathematics syllabus helps students prepare effectively in the time they have, and this can lead to better results.

Topics in IAIS Mathematics are divided into five major categories. They are:

• Algebra and patterns

• Chance and data

• Measures and units

• Number and arithmetic

• Space and geometry

IAIS 2024 Exam Format

• Being an assessment test rather than a competitive exam, each question is worth one mark with no marks deducted for wrong answers.

• The questions become harder as the students move from the first question to the last. The questions at the end of the paper test the higher-order thinking skills of the students and are given more weight and help the examiners when developing their assessment report.

• The questions are also divided by the skills assessed and are reflected in the student performance report.

IAIS 2024 Mathematics Results

IAIS gives results in the form of a diagnostic report. Macmillan provides two types of reports:

• A school report: comparing it with averages of other schools in the region as well as by comparing each student’s performance with the school average.
• A student's report: explaining how the candidate has performed in each skill area and in comparison with the school average.
