UPSC CAPF 2019 Introduction

  • About UPSC CAPF: Every year Union Public Service Commission conducts an examination to recruit candidates for the post of Assistant Commandant in Central Armed Police Forces. CAPF conducts UPSC CAPF Recruitment Exam 2019.

  • Job Posts: UPSC conducts CAPF recruitment exam for recruiting candidates to Assistant Commandants post in BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB.

  • Vacancies: A total of 398 vacancies are available for the candidates. Reservations are also being provided to SC/ST, OBC, and ex-servicemen candidates.

UPSC CAPF 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Only candidates who are citizens of India are eligible to appear for the exam. Any other citizens are not eligible to register or apply for UPSC CAPF 2019.

  • Sex: The UPSC CAPF does not pertain to a single sex. Male and female candidates can apply for the post of Assistant Commandants. 

  • Educational Qualification: The Candidate must hold a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.

    • Candidates who earned a degree from educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 are also acceptable.

    • Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying exams and awaiting their results can also apply for the exam.

    • The candidate must produce the essential documents that will be provisional until the candidate produces proof of passing the qualifying the exam.

    • Those candidates who possess professional and technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to the professional and technical degree would also be considered eligible to apply for CAPF AC.

    • There may be some exceptions in which UPSC may treat a candidate who doesn’t have any of the above-mentioned qualifications as a qualified candidate, given that they have passed an examination conducted by the other Institutions, whose standard justifies their eligibility.

  • Age Limit: Candidates are supposed to be within an age limit of 20-25 years.

  • Candidates are required to be of between 20-25 years of age.

  • The upper age limit is relaxable up to a maximum of five years for the SC/ST candidates.

  • The upper age limit is relaxable up to a maximum of three years for the OBC candidates.

  • The applicant must not be born between the period of 2nd August 1993 to 1st August 1998.

  • Age relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years is available for Candidates who lived in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st January 1980 to 31st December 1989.

UPSC CAPF 2019 Exam Pattern

  • Structure: UPSC CAPF Recruitment Exam 2019 is an online exam.

    • Paper-1: Exam will be of 2 hours in which candidate has to solve 125 questions.

UPSC CAPF 2019 Admit Card

  • Availability: The UPSC CAPF Admit Card will be available once released by the conducting body. This is generally available 2 weeks before the exam.

  • Download: The credentials to be submitted by the candidates to access their admit card are application number, date of birth and security pin.

  • Step 1: Candidates should visit the official UPSC website at and click on the 'Admit Card link' on the homepage.

  • Step 2: On this page, click on 'E-Admit Cards for Various Examinations of UPSC' link.

  • Step 3: A 'Click here' link will be available under the 'View Online' tab for the exam. Once you click on that link, a new window will open where another link will be available to download the admit card.

  • Step 4: Once you click on the link, you will be directed to a login page. You can log in using your login credentials.

  • Step 5: Review and download the admit card that will be displayed on the screen.

  • Step 6: Print the admit card in order to show the same at the exam centre.

UPSC CAPF 2019 Results

  • Official website: The results will be updated online as soon as it is declared by the conducting body. 

  • The results for each step of the selection rounds will be declared separately. 

  • After the three rounds of the selection process for UPSC CAPF, (written exam, physical efficiency test, and interview/personality test), the merit list will be drafted in a time span of fifteen days after the results have been declared.

  • Date: UPSC CAPF Results 2019 is expected to be declared online in September 2019.

Q. Can you help me out with the specifications for uploading the photograph and signature?

Candidates are required to upload their photograph and signature while filling in the application form, the size of the image should be between 20 and 50 KB, while the image size of the signature should be between 10 and 20 KB. The dimensions of the photo should be 200*300 pixels, while the signature should be 140*60 pixels. The format of both the images should be in JPEG format.

Q. Is there a way to fill the Application form offline?

No, the candidate cannot fill the application form of UPSC CAPF offline. Interested candidates can apply online through their official website after they release the official notification.

Q. I have accidentally filled some incorrect information in the application form. Is there a way to make the changes?

Unfortunately, there is not any provision for the candidates to make the changes. It is important for the applicants to be very careful while applying for the UPSC CAPF 2019. Changes can be made before they had submitted the application form using 'edit' option.

Q. I have successfully submitted the application form, do I have to take a print out of it and send it to the commission's office?

No, it is not required for the candidate send their application form to the conducting authority. The candidate can secure a copy of the filled in application form for future references.

Q. I am a candidate belonging to the female category. Is it necessary for me to pay the application fee?

No, the women candidates do not necessarily have to pay the application fee for UPSC CAPF. they are exempted from paying the application fee.

Q. Do I have to submit the original documents?

It is not necessary for the candidate to produce the original documents on the exam day. The verification of the documents will only happen once the candidate has qualified the Interview/ Personality test.

The candidate has to fill in the basic information such as a name of the candidate, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, gender, age and contact information such as a valid email address, contact number, and educational qualification.
