SBI PO Exam Pattern 2023-24: Prelims, Mains, Marking Scheme

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2023-24 is released by the SBI authorities on the official website i.e, sbi.co.in. The SBI PO prelims paper consists of 100 questions of 100 marks. The exam will be conducted for 1 hour and questions come from English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer and 1 mark for every correct response.

SBI PO 2023-24 mains exam pattern consists of objective tests containing 155 questions for 200 marks and the duration of the exam will be for 3 hours. Besides, there will also be a descriptive tests for 30 minutes consisting of 50 marks. Students have to write an English Letter Writing and essay in the descriptive test. There will be no sectional cutoff in the Mains exam of SBI PO.

The questions will be asked from Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and General/Economy/Banking Awareness in the SBI PO mains exam 2023-24. Students must study the SBI PO syllabus 2023-24 thoroughly and prepare well for the exam.

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2023-24: Prelims (Phase I)

SBI PO test is conducted online and has 3 sections like English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. It is considered the qualifying examination. Candidates clearing this paper will be eligible to appear for SBI Mains. Candidates must clear the sectional cut-off that is set to qualify for the SBI PO Mains exam.

Negative Marking:

There is negative marking in SBI PO prelims exam of 0.25 marks that is deducted for every wrong answer. SBI has revised the exam time per section to 20 minutes as mentioned below. The section-wise details are given below:

SBI PO Exam Pattern 2023-24 Mains (Phase II)

Candidates qualifying the cutoffs set by State Bank of India will proceed to the second phase of SBI PO 2022-24 Examination. SBI PO 2023-24 mains examination will consist of objective tests for 200 marks and descriptive test for 50 marks.

Mode of Conduct of SBI PO Mains (Phase II)

SBI PO objective and descriotive tests will be conducted online. Candidates will have to answer the descriptive section test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of the objective test, descriptive test will be administered.

(A). Objective Test: The objective test of 3 hours duration consists of 4 Sections for a total of 200 marks. The objective test will have individual timing for every section.

  • Negative Marking: There is negative marking of 0.25 marks deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Eligibility: The candidates are required to qualify in each of the tests by securing passing marks.

 (B). Descriptive Test: The descriptive test is of 30 minutes duration for 50 marks. There will be an English Language test (Letter Writing & Essay). Two questions will be asked- one for essay writing and another being letter writing.

  • Eligibility: The qualifier is based on passing marks in the descriptive test decided by the bank.
  • Merit List: Once the SBI PO 2023-24 mains exam is concluded, the merit list will be prepared by SBI. The list will be sorted by highest marks to lowest qualifying marks. Candidates with the highest marks will be given priority in GD and personal interview.

SBI PO 2023-24 - Interview (Final Phase)

The Candidate's aggregate marks for qualifying to this phase is decided by arranging both the objective tests and descriptive test's score in descending order in each category of candidates. An adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the bank, based on the SBI PO vacancies available, will be called for Group Exercises and Interview.

  • Marks: The qualifying marks in Group Exercises & Interview will be decided by the Bank.
  • Certificate: Candidates qualifying for Group Exercises & Interview under the 'OBC' category are required to submit OBC certificate containing the 'Non-Creamy layer' clause. Aspirants who are not submitting the OBC certificate containing the 'Non-creamy layer' clause and requesting to be interviewed under the OBC category will not be entertained.

Final SBI PO Score Calculation

According to SBI PO 2023-24 Exam Pattern, there are certain important points on the basis of which the final score for the SBI PO exam is calculated. The preliminary exam marks will not be considered in the final score but are instead taken into account for the mains exam.

  • Candidates need to qualify Mains and GD/Interview individually to be eligible to get the post of SBI PO.
  • As per the SBI PO 2023-24 exam pattern, the ratio of marks between the main exam and interview, for the final merit list will be 4:1 respectively.
  • All test-takers have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the written test (out of 250 marks) are converted to 75 and marks secured in Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to 25.
  • After converting aggregate marks of Written Test and Group Exercises & Interview out of 100 for each category, the final merit list is compiled. The selection will be made from the top-ranked aspirants in each category.
  • On the SBI official website, the results of the candidates who have qualified for Group Exercises & Interviews and the list of candidates finally selected will be made available.
