About INET 2023

INET full from is Indian Navy Entrance Test. INET is a National Level Entrance Examination conducted to select staff for the Indian Navy. The Indian Naval Academy conducts it. INET exam is similar to AFCAT, which is held to recruit officers for Indian Air Force. However, the only difference is that the INET exam is held to select the personnel for the Indian Navy.

Indian Navy has invited applications for Short Service Commission (SSC) Officer Posts in Executive, Educational and Technical branches through the Indian Navy Entrance Test 2023 (INET). There are several vacancies available for different posts in INET. This navy entrance exam 2023 is open for unmarried male and female candidates. The examination is conducted in Online mode (Computer-based) and will have multiple choice-based, objective-type questions. Negative marking is included in the scheme of valuation.

INET 2023 Exam Date

The INET will be held in two sessions every year, once in January and June. INET 2023 exam date has not been declared yet due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, the tentative Indian Navy Entrance Test 2023 exam dates are mentioned below.

INET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring to write the Indian Navy Entrance Test 2023 exam and join the Indian Navy must check the eligibility criteria before registering for the exam. There are several posts for which INET 2023 is conducted. For some posts, only male candidates are eligible to apply. Candidates should have at least a Bachelor's Degree in the course specified by the conducting body. Candidates should ensure that they satisfy INET exam eligibility before applying for the exam.

For the posts such as SSC ATC/SSC Observer/SSC Pilot [MR]/SSC Pilot [other than MR], candidates can refer to the detailed INET exam eligibility.

  • A candidate should have secured a minimum of 60% marks in B.Tech/B.E. from a university/institute recognized by AICTE.
  • The age limit of a candidate applying should be 18 to 23 years.

INET 2023 Application Form

Candidates aspiring to join the Indian Navy must fill the INET application form 2023 before the last day. Interested candidates can apply for the INET exam 2023 online only from the official website. For the January session, candidates could apply from #application_from_date to #application_to_date. The application form for the June session has been delayed due to the pandemic.

How to apply for the INET 2023 exam?

A step-by-step procedure to register for the INET entrance exam 2023 is given below:

  • Step 1: Candidates need to visit the official website of the Indian Navy, i.e. www.joinindiannavy.gov.in
  • Step 2: Upon landing on the home page, the candidate must find the "Apply Online" tab and click on it.
  • Step 3: After clicking that option, the candidate will be taken to a new page where they have to create an account if they have not created it before. Candidates will have two options to register: With Aadhar or without Aadhar. Otherwise, if the candidate has created an account before, they need to log in to their existing account.
  • Step 4: Upon creating a candidate new account, they will be sent their password on their email ID.
  • Step 5: Upon successfully logging in, the candidate will need to fill the form with their personal and academic details per their Matriculation certificate such as Full name, date of birth, mobile number, parent's name, permanent address, religion, category, etc.
  • Step 6: All the documents like mark sheets of 10th, 12th, Semester V to VII of B.Tech/B.E must be uploaded. Candidates should also upload a recent passport-sized photograph and signature.
  • Step 7: To complete the candidate application form for INET 2023 exam, they need to pay the application fee. It has to be paid with a Credit/Debit Card/Net Banking. Once the payment is made successfully, candidates can take the printout of the application form for future reference.

INET 2023 Application Fee

Students will be asked to pay the fee to finish their registration process before the INET last date to apply 2023. There are charges for the candidates belonging to General and OBC candidates. However, no charge is levied on the registration of SC/ST and women candidates. INET 2023 application form fee is provided in the table below:

Note: It is to inform the candidate that their application would be considered incomplete without paying the application fee. Once candidates have paid the fees, they should download their application form and print it out for their SSB interview.

INET 2023 Admit Card

The admit card for the INET exam 2023 will be released tentatively a few days before the commencement of the examination. The admit card will be released on the official website. Hall Tickets will contain the allotted exam centres' date, time, and place. The admit card for the INET January session was released on #admit_card_date. However, the admit card release for the June session has been postponed due to the delay in the application form registration.

How to download INET Admit Card?

You can follow the following step-by-step procedure to download the INET admit card:

  • Step 1: Candidates need to visit the official website of the Indian Navy, i.e. www.joinindiannavy.gov.in
  • Step 2: Upon landing on the home page, click on the Careers tab. Candidates need to search and click on the admit card link of the INET 2023 exam. It will take you to the login page.
  • Step 3: After reaching the login page, candidates need to enter their login credentials. The INET 2023 admit card will be displayed on the screen.
  • Step 4: Candidates must download and take a printout of the admit card, and preserve it till the recruitment process is over.

INET 2023 Exam Centres

Navy Entrance Exam 2023 will be conducted in the following exam centres. Therefore, candidates are required to select the exam city when filling the INET 2023 application form.

Military SSB's are situated where the candidates will be tested. Candidates who will be shortlisted for SSB will be reimbursed with the travel expense, which will be equivalent to the fare of 3rd Tier AC. Candidates must ensure that they bring the INET 2023 admit card and a Government ID proof to the exam centre, failing to which, candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.

INET 2023 Exam Pattern

Just like the exam syllabus, it is also important to know about the overall structure and exam pattern of the INET 2023 exam. Therefore, candidates can check the exam pattern given below.

  • INET 2023 exam pattern comprises 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type questions from English, Reasoning & Numerical Ability, General Science and Mathematics Aptitude & General Knowledge. Each section comprises 25 questions.
  • The maximum marks for each section comprise 100 marks, and the total duration of the exam is 2 hours.
  • For every correct response, four marks will be awarded. There will be a deduction of one mark for every wrong response. Candidates need to be cautious while answering questions as it has the potential to get a negative marking.

INET 2023 Result and Merit List

INICET Results will be released on the official websiteThe candidates can download the result sheet from the official website. The qualified candidates are eligible to take up admission for the Postgraduate course (MD, MS, DM, MCh, and MDS) at the Institute of National Importance (INI) for medical education.

Final results for INET and SSB interviews will be announced together, taking a cumulative weightage for both. The INET 2023 result for the June session will be declared soon after the examination. The candidates who will pass the medical will be invited for training as per all India merit and the availability of vacancies for the opted course.

INET 2023 Cutoff

The candidates have a minimum number of marks that has to be achieved by the candidates to be eligible for the SSB round. Qualified candidates will be called for SSB through email and their registered mobile number. INET exam Cutoff is the qualifying in nature for all the sections. However, the total marks should also be more than the specified cutoff.

INET 2023 Selection Procedure

The selection procedure for the Indian Navy is as follows:

  • INET Examination - Candidates who have applied to fill the applications successfully will need to give INET exam. The mode of communications used between the exam authority and the candidates will be online, which means candidates will receive notifications about the exam via email or phone.
  • Shortlisting for SSB - Candidates will be shortlisted April 20, 2020, onwards at Bangalore (for Pilot & Observer candidates only) and Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Vishakhapatnam/Kolkata for other branches/entries. At the SSB rounds, the candidates will have to face two stages: Stage-I and Stage-II. Candidates who will fail in Stage-I will be sent back on the same day. The candidates who qualify for Stage-I will stay and face further rounds.
  • Medical - Candidates recommended for selection by the board will undergo medical examination before their joining. Candidates opting for the post of Pilot will have to undergo Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) followed by the Aviation Medical Examination.
  • Merit List and Appointment Letter - The Indian Navy will issue the final merit list based on the combined marks of INET and SSB. Candidates who will be declared medically fit will be appointed for the training as per all India merit based on the availability of vacancies in cadre/branch.

Post SSB Training

Selected candidates will be enrolled as officers in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant. Merchant Navy candidates who have Government of India, Ministry of Shipping & Transport Certificate of Competency (Foreign going) either as a Second Mate, Mate or Master will be inducted as Acting Lieutenant.

Except for the officers of the IT cadre, all other officers will be undergoing 22 weeks Naval Orientation Course at Naval Academy, Ezhimala. SSC (IT) officers will have four weeks of Naval Orientation Course at the same venue.

Regulations for INET Exam

Following regulations, relaxations and guidelines will provide candidates with clarity about what is expected out of them before appearing for INET Exam.

Medical Standards

All candidates recommended by the SSB will have to undergo medical as per the regulations of the Navy. Therefore, no relaxations will be provided on medical grounds to any candidate.

Relaxation in Height and Weight

Candidates holding the domicile of certain specific states will be given a relaxation in height by the Indian Navy. Candidates can read more about that on the official website.

Group Insurance and Gratuity

Selected candidates will get a basic insurance cover up to INR 1 crore (when contributing), and gratuity will be granted as per the rules in the Navy to the deployed officer.

Leave Entitlements

When the candidates are on training, they will be granted leaves as per the Training policies. After their training, the officers will have the entitlement to Annual and Casual leaves as per the extant regulations.

Tenure of Commission

  1. For Short Service Commission: Candidates will have a tenure of 10 years which can be extended up to 4 years in 2 terms (2 years+2 years).
  2. For Permanent Commission: Candidates will be serving for 20 years on a pension and will be able to work until the age of superannuation.
