What is the IBPS RRB Exam?

About IBPS: IBPS stands for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The IBPS conducts the RRB CWE (Regional Rural Banks Common Written Test). The exam is conducted every year for the candidates who wish to have a career in any of the Regional Rural Banks (RRB) in India for the post of Group A Officers (Scale- I, II & III) or Group B- Office Assistants (Multipurpose). There are a total of 43 RRB participating all over India for the IBPS RRB exam. Candidates have to register themselves for the IBPS RRB 2021 Common Recruitment Process (CRP for RRBs) before the deadline to appear for the exam.

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has released the notification about the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) which has a total of 9638 vacancies for the posts of Office Assistant & Officer. In case the candidates are interested in both the posts, they can apply for both as well. The IBPS RRB exam will be conducted in across 28 States of the Country at various test centres. However, the exam authority may increase the number of exam centres because of COVID-19 pandemic to maintain social distancing.

IBPS RRB 2021 Eligibility

There are major differences between the eligibility criteria for IBPS RRB Officer role and Office Assistant role in terms of age limit, educational qualification and work experience. All candidates should check the IBPS RRB 2021 eligibility criteria for their respective posts before applying for the exam. Candidates are required to produce the relevant documents for their identity and eligibility about the category, nationality, age, educational qualifications, etc as indicated in the IBPS RRB 2021 application form.

Nationality

Candidates who are aspiring to apply for the IBPS RRB 2021 exam must satisfy these criteria given below:

  • A Citizen of India/Nepal/Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1962 intending to permanently settle in the country.
  • A Person of Indian Origin(Having PIO Card) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam intending to permanently settle in the country.

Educational Qualification

As per the IBPS RRB 2021 Eligibility Criteria, the educational qualification varies for the type of post a candidate is applying for. All the candidate should be proficient in the local language as prescribed by the participating regional bank and must have a decent working knowledge of computer.

Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university/college.

For the post of Officer Scale-I (Assistant Manager), preference will be given to the candidates having a degree in Agriculture, Accountancy, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Husbandry, Economics, Forestry, Horticulture, Law, Management, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology or Veterinary Science.

Officer Scale-II and Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized College/University or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.

Experience

There is no work experience required to apply for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and Officer Scale-1.

Officer of Scale II requires an overall experience of 1 or 2 years, depending upon the profile they are applying for. Officer of Scale III requires an overall experience of a minimum of 5 years in a Bank or Financial Institution as an Officer.

Age Limit

  • For Officer Scale-III of IBPS RRB: Candidates should be between 21 years and 40 years.
  • For Officer Scale-III(Senior Manager): The candidates should be in the age group between 21 and 40 years.
  • For Officer Scale-II(Manager): The candidates should be in the age group between 21 and 32 years.
  • For Officer Scale-I(Assistant Manager): The candidates should be in the age group between 18 and 30 years.
  • For IBPS RRB Office Assistant, a candidate must be between 18 and 30 years.
  • Age Relaxation
    • For those candidates who belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, the age limit is relaxed up to five years.
    • For Other Backward Classes, the age limit is relaxed up to three years.
    • For PWD, the age limit is relaxed up to ten years.
    • A person domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir in the period 1981-89, relaxation is given for 5 years.
    • A victim of the 1984 riots shall be given a relaxation of 5 years.
    • Widows, divorced women, or women who are legally separated from their husbands and are not remarried have been given an age relaxation of 9 years.
    • Ex-Servicemen Commissioned Officers, including ECOs/SSCOs, is relaxed up to 5 years.

IBPS RRB 2021 Syllabus

Candidates must know about IBPS RRB 2021 Syllabus to prepare well for this exam. The IBPS RRB Syllabus is different for the Preliminary and Mains examination. The time allotted for the Preliminary examination is 45 minutes while for the Mains examination it is 2 hours. IBPS RRB 2021 Application Form will be available on the official website of IBPS. The online registration for IBPS RRB Exam is expected to start from Jul 1, 2021 and go on till Jul 21, 2021.

  • Sections: The form is divided into three sections. Those are Basic Details, Personal Details, and Contact Details.
  • Details: All the particulars mentioned in the online application include Name of the Candidate, Category, Date of Birth, Post Applied for, Address, Mobile Number, Email ID, Centre of Examination, registration of preferences for participating organizations, etc.

Documents required to Apply for IBPS RRB Exam

  • Photograph Image: The candidates need to upload the scanned image of their photograph.
    • The photograph should be a recent one and coloured one, with a white background preferably.
    • The face on the photo should be clear.
    • Ensure that the size of the photograph is between 20-50 KB.
    • Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred).
    • The image file should be in JPG or JPEG format.
  • Signature Image: The candidates need to upload the scanned image of their signature.
    • The signature must be taken on a white paper with a black ink pen.
    • An applicant may be disqualified from the examination if the signature does not match with the signature done during the exam.
    • The dimension of the signature should be preferable 140*60 and Size should be between 10 to 20 KB.
    • The scanned image should be in JPG/JPEG format.
  • Left thumb Impression: Scanned copy of the thumb impression need to be uploaded.
    • The Thumb impression should be given on a white paper with Black or Blue Ink.
    • Dimensions 200 x 230 pixels (preferred).
    • The size of the scanned image should be between 20-50 KB.

  • Declaration: The candidate has to write the declaration and upload the scanned image of the following: “I, _______ (Name of the candidate), hereby declare that all the information submitted by me in the application form is correct, true and valid. IBPS RRB Selection Process

The IBPS RRB Selection Process is different for the post of Office Assistant and other Officers. 

Recruitment Process for Office Assistant(Multipurpose)

The selection process for Office Assitant consists of a mainly a 3-stage process:

  • Phase 1: Preliminary Exam: This is the primary exam, where all the candidates need to clear the cutoff decided by the IBPS.
  • Phase 2: Mains Exam: Candidates who will cross the minimum cutoff marks of the IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam, will be qualified for Mains Exam. Like Prelims, in this exam also the candidates are required to clear the cutoff specified by the IBPS.
  • Language Proficiency Test: The candidates qualifying the Mains exam are then to appear for the Language proficiency test. The candidates who had studied the local language in their school, are not required to give this exam. This will be of qualifying in nature. They just have to submit their 8th class mark sheets showing that the candidate has passed that particular subject.
  • Finally, a merit list will be prepared solely based on marks obtained in their Mains Exam.

Recruitment Process for Officers

Recruitment Process for all the officer posts are the same but in the selection of Scale II and Scale III, there will be only one exam. The process is as follows:

  • Phase 1: Preliminary Exam: This is the primary exam, where all the candidates have to attend.
  • Phase 2: Mains Exam: Candidates who will cross the minimum cutoff marks of the IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam, will be qualified for Mains Exam.
  • Phase 3: Interview: Candidates who will score minimum cumulative cutoff marks in the above two exams, will be qualified for the Interview session.
  • Language Proficiency Test: The candidates qualifying the Mains exam are then to appear for the Language proficiency test. The candidates who had studied the local language in their school, are not required to give this exam. This will be of qualifying in nature. They just have to submit their 8th class mark sheets showing that the candidate has passed that particular subject.
  • Selection: A merit list will be prepared, and candidates whose name is there in the merit list will be given the call letter.

How to calculate the Percentage?

The percentage shall be arrived at by calculating the total marks secured in all the subjects in all the semesters divided by the aggregate of the maximum marks. It includes the honors/optional/additional optional subject. With the figure arrived, the candidate has to multiply the number by 100 which gives the candidate the percentage acquired in the discipline. The fraction of percentage so arrived will be ignored i.e. 89.99% will be treated as 90% and 56.99% will be treated as less than 57%.
