About IBPS RRB Exam

IBPS stands for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The IBPS conducts the RRB CWE (Regional Rural Banks Common Written Test). Job Profile: IBPS RRB 2023 exam is conducted for the recruitment of the candidates for the post of clerical functions and also serves as a helping or supporting hand in various functions of the bank.

Nationality

Candidates who are aspiring to apply for IBPS RRB 2023 exam must satisfy the criteria below.

  • A citizen of India/Nepal/Bhutan.
  • A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1962 intending to permanently settle in the country.
  • A Person of Indian Origin (with PIO Card) who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam intending to permanently settle in the country.

IBPS RRB 2023 Educational Qualification

As per IBPS RRB 2023 eligibility criteria, the educational qualification varies for the type of post a candidate is applying for. All the candidate should be proficient in the local language as prescribed by the participating regional bank and must have a decent working knowledge of computer.

Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and Officer Scale I (Assistant Manager): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university/college.

For the post of Officer Scale I (Assistant Manager), preference will be given to the candidates with a degree in Agriculture, Accountancy, Agricultural Engineering, Animal Husbandry, Economics, Forestry, Horticulture, Law, Management, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology or Veterinary Science.

Officer Scale-II and Officer Scale-III (Senior Manager): Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized College/University or its equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.

Experience Requirements

There is no work experience required to apply for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and Officer Scale I. Officer of Scale II requires an overall experience of 1 or 2 years, depending upon the profile they are applying for. Officer of Scale III requires an overall experience of a minimum of 5 years in a Bank or Financial Institution as an Officer.

Age Limit

The age limits is different for the posts offered through IBPS RRB 2023. The course-wise age limits are as follows.

  • For Officer Scale III of IBPS RRB: Candidates should be between 21 years and 40 years.
  • For Officer Scale III (Senior Manager): The candidates should be in the age group between 21 and 40 years.
  • For Officer Scale II (Manager): The candidates should be in the age group between 21 and 32 years.
  • For Officer Scale I (Assistant Manager): The candidates should be in the age group between 18 and 30 years.
  • For IBPS RRB Office Assistant, a candidate must be between 18 and 30 years.

IBPS RRB 2023 Age Relaxation

Certain categories have age relaxation is applying for the exam. The category-wise age relaxation for IBPS RRB 2023 are below.

  • For those candidates who belong to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe, the age limit is relaxed up to five years.
  • For Other Backward Classes, the age limit is relaxed up to three years.
  • For PWD, the age limit is relaxed up to ten years.
  • A person domiciled in Jammu and Kashmir in the period 1981-89, relaxation is given for 5 years.
  • A victim of the 1984 riots shall be given a relaxation of 5 years.
  • Widows, divorced women, or women who are legally separated from their husbands and are not remarried have been given an age relaxation of 9 years.
  • Ex-Servicemen Commissioned Officers, including ECOs/SSCOs, is relaxed up to 5 years.

IBPS RRB 2023 Selection Process

IBPS RRB selection process is different for the post of Office Assistant and other Officers. 

IBPS RRB 2023 Recruitment Process for Office Assistant (Multipurpose)

The selection process for Office Assitant consists of a mainly a 3-stage process.

  • Phase 1 - Preliminary Exam: This is the primary exam, where all the candidates need to clear the cutoff decided by the IBPS.
  • Phase 2 - Mains Exam: Candidates who will cross the minimum cutoff marks of IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam, will be qualified for Mains Exam. Like Prelims, in this exam also the candidates are required to clear the cutoff specified by the IBPS.
  • Language Proficiency Test: The candidates qualifying the Mains exam are then to appear for the Language proficiency test. The candidates who had studied the local language in their school, are not required to give this exam. This will be of qualifying in nature. They just have to submit their 8th class mark sheets showing that the candidate has passed that particular subject.

Finally, a merit list will be prepared solely based on marks obtained in their Mains Exam.

IBPS RRB 2023 Recruitment Process for Officers

Recruitment Process for all the officer posts are the same but in the selection of Scale II and Scale III, there will be only one exam. The process is as follows:

  • Phase 1 - Preliminary Exam: This is the primary exam, where all the candidates have to attend.
  • Phase 2 - Mains Exam: Candidates who will cross the minimum cutoff marks of IBPS RRB Preliminary Exam, will be qualified for Mains Exam.
  • Phase 3 - Interview: Candidates who will score minimum cumulative cutoff marks in the above two exams, will be qualified for the Interview session.
  • Language Proficiency Test: The candidates qualifying the Mains exam are then to appear for the Language proficiency test.   • Selection: A merit list will be prepared, and candidates whose name is there in the merit list will be given the call letter.
