VMOU (Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University), based in Kota, was established in 1987. Previously, the university was known as Kota Open University. The UGC has recognized the college as an outstanding State Open University in Rajasthan. VMOU Kota belongs to the Association of Indian Universities as well (AIU). The university offers a wide array of flagship programs such as B.Ed, MBA, BA, and MSc, primarily through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) modes. 

VMOU's headquarters is located in Kota and its operational jurisdiction extends to the whole of Rajasthan. To encourage online education in Rajasthan, VMOU Kota has established 7 Regional Centers and hundreds of Study Centers as institutional devices. While admission to most courses is merit-based, key programs like MBA and B.Ed require clearing entrance exams like VMOU MET or the B.Ed Entrance Test. VMOU is a specialised ODL (Open and Distance Learning) institution. The course learning can be provided through the SLM and videos:

  • Delivery Mode: Printed Self-Learning Material (SLM) sent to home + Online Video Lectures.
  • Assignments: Mandatory internal assignments (download from Student One View, submit at Study Center).
  • Flexibility: Maximum duration allows students to complete a 3-year degree in up to 6 years.

VMOU Admission 2026

VMOU admissions 2026 for its diverse programs are facilitated through a flexible and accessible process via the VMOU online admission portals. The university conducts admissions twice a year – January cycle (November to February) and July cycle (May to August). Candidates can seamlessly apply through the VMOU online platform, track their application status using their VMOU student login credentials, and monitor academic progress with the VMOU student One View feature.

VMOU admission to most UG and PG courses (except B.Ed and MBA) is based on the merit of the qualifying examination. For select UG programs, the university also offers lateral entry to the second and third semesters. Additionally, a 5% relaxation in qualifying marks is applicable for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories.

VMOU Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University courses depend on the type of course chosen. VMOU Kota offers courses in B.Sc, BA, MA, MBA, etc. Mentioned below are a few courses along with their eligibility criteria

  • BA: Candidates seeking admission to B.A. must have passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent from a recognized board in the relevant subject(s). No entrance exam is required. Admission is merit-based.
  • MA: Candidates seeking admission to M.A. must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognized university. Admission is merit-based.
  • MSc: Candidates seeking admission to M.Sc. must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant science discipline from a recognized university. Admission is merit-based.

How to Apply for VMOU Admission 2026

Admission to VMOU for the 2026 academic year is conducted in two cycles: January and July. The entire process is online.

  1. Visit Official Portal: Go to www.vmou.ac.in or online.vmou.ac.in.
  2. Register: Click on "Fresh Admission" and generate a login code.
  3. Fill Details: Enter personal, academic, and regional center preferences.
  4. Upload Documents: Scanned photo, signature, 10th/12th mark sheets, and eligibility proofs.
  5. Fee Payment: Pay admission fees online via Net Banking/Credit Card/E-Mitra.
  6. Download Receipt: Save the filled application form and fee receipt.

VMOU Result

VMOU results are declared for the BLIS and DLIS courses at the vmou.ac.in result. Students can check their VMOU results by entering their scholar number or name on the result portal. The VMOU exams are conducted at the end of each semester, usually in June and December. Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University distributes the grade cards to the students soon after the VMOU Kota results are declared.

Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University (VMOU), Kota, also conducts re-appear examinations and revaluation processes for students with unsatisfactory results. Students can use the VMOU Kota online portal to access their VMOU admit card 2026, timetables, assessment reports, VMOU results, and examination notifications. They have to follow the given steps to check the results.

VMOU Defaulter Form 2026

VMOU Defaulter Form is for the students who have missed submitting assignments, not paid the fees, or have other academic issues; they might become a "defaulter." This means they cannot appear for the exam unless they fix the issue. To fix it, students must fill out and submit the VMOU Defaulter Form.
