UPES Merit Scholarships

UPES recognises the talent of its students and rewards them accordingly by offering various merit scholarships. Students are encouraged to pursue sports alongside their academics. The details of the UPES Dehradun scholarships are listed below.

• The scholarship is awarded to up to 10% of top performers of the UPES Entrance Exam.
• UPES Dehradun reserves the right to conduct multiple rounds of entrance examination, and the merit list of each round will be prepared separately. 
• The total number of the UPES Dehradun scholarships available is up to 1900 (out of these, 50% will be reserved for girls, i.e., 950 scholarships and the remaining for both boys and girls).
• The UPES Scholarship 2025 will only be awarded for the 1st semester (20% to 100% on tuition fees).

UPES Sports Scholarship

The UPES Scholarship 2025 for sports is offered to talented athletes to develop a sports culture within the institute. The scholarship guidelines are mentioned below,

• Each scholarship has a certain number of seats assigned to each sport. The number of seats assigned to each game is listed below.

• Students must fulfil the minimum admission eligibility requirements for the UPES Dehradun scholarships to be awarded.
• Students must continue the same sports in UPES for which they were awarded the scholarship.
• Students must submit proof of winning or any other documents required by the university. In addition, the National/International participation should not be more than two years (for Scholarship application).
• Students must note that the UPES Scholarship Committee reserves the right to award or revoke the scholarship at any time.

UPES Academic Scholarships

• The UPES academic scholarship is available for undergraduate and postgraduate programs under this policy. 
• This University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun scholarship reserves 25 seats for the wards of the Armed Forces. 
• The total number (maximum) of seats reserved for this scholarship is 2700.
• Students are awarded up to 10% to 30% concessions on the tuition fees for the first and second semesters.

UPES Fellowship Scholarship 

• This UPES Scholarship 2025 will be awarded to M.Tech program students if they score 75 percentile or above in the GATE entrance examination. The scholarship amount is INR 12,400 per month.
• Students are awarded INR 50,000 as a research grant for outcome-based research purposes.
• A teaching assistant stipend of INR 3000 is awarded to M.Des course program students.
• The scholarship guidelines include that M.Tech and M.Des program students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 8.5 or more and a minimum of 75% attendance.
• Students must note that they must not have any disciplinary action taken against them or get any financial support from any other source.

UPES MBA Scholarship 

• The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies scholarship for MBA is awarded to students for,
• Getting 80% or more in graduation or 
• Scores 85 percentile or more in CAT examination or
• Have an NMAT score above 200
• A concession of 20% is given in the form of a scholarship amount, and a maximum of 75 seats are reserved.
• This scholarship is awarded only for the 1st year, and no renewal exists.

UPES Scholarship Based on Academic Performance

• The UPES academic scholarship is available for undergraduate and postgraduate programs under this policy. 
• The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun scholarship is offered to 10% of the total number of students enrolled in each program, or one student, whichever is greater. The 10% is rounded up to the following higher number. 
• The scholarship policy is based on the students' meritorious performances.
• The scholarship guidelines include that students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 8.5 or more and a minimum of 75% attendance.
• Students must note that they must not have any disciplinary action taken against them or get any financial support from any other source.
• Since this UPES Dehradun scholarship is based on academic achievement, it is awarded post the semester results are declared.

UPES Financial Aids

UPES Dehradun extends financial support to students who cannot pay the tuition fee because they have lost any of their earning parents after being admitted to the college or submitting total fees for at least one semester. The UPES Dehradun scholarship is offered in the form of financial aid. The eligibility criteria for the same are given below.

• The financial support extended by the university is a relaxation of Rs 50,000/- towards their tuition fee per semester till the last qualifying semester.
• The student should maintain/improve their academic performance every semester.
• Candidates applying for relaxation should not have uncleared papers or backlogs in any semester. 
• However, the UPES Scholarship Committee can use its discretion to recommend the Vice Chancellor for approval without using this as a precedent for future cases of the exact nature, if any.
• The student should also have a clear record of discipline background.
• The relaxation is applicable only for the upcoming semester.

UPES Freeships 

UPES scholarships are awarded to deserving students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to provide equal access to quality education. The scholarship eligibility criteria are elucidated below.

• A total of 51 seats are reserved to be awarded on a merit basis.
• The upper age limit for UG and PG programs is 20 and 25 years, respectively (on the registration date).
• Students must fulfil the minimum admission eligibility requirements for the UPES Dehradun scholarships to be awarded.
• Students must submit their respective EWS certificate issued by the District Magistrate (DM) /Additional District Magistrate (ADM) / Collector or equivalent authority.
• In order to be eligible for this UPES Scholarship 2025, students must not have a family income of more than INR 8 LPA.
• In addition, students also need to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance and 6 CGPA or more.

UPES Other Scholarships

UPES Scholarship for Bonafide Uttarakhand Students

• Uttarakhand Bonafide residents are eligible for a 30% concession on tuition fees subject to the following conditions and submission of supporting documents at UPES Dehradun. 
• Students must submit their 'Sthai/Mool/Adhiwas Niwas Praman Patra' certificate and the admission form.
• In addition, the income certificate document proving that gross family income is not more than INR 12 LPA, along with a copy of the last income tax return filed, must also be submitted.
• Students must note that this UPES Scholarship 2025 will be awarded only as tuition-fee waivers and not in any other way.
• Students must note that they must not have any disciplinary action taken against them or get any financial support from any other source.

UPES Alumni Scholarship

• This University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun scholarship is eligible for UPES Alumni who graduated from 2019 onwards. 
• A 50% tuition fee waiver is offered for the entire program under the UPES scholarship. 
• No other scholarship will be offered or clubbed with this scholarship, and no Alumni fee is charged.
• Renewal of this UPES scholarship for the subsequent year shall be based on attaining a minimum of 8 SGPA /CGPA with no backlog and no disciplinary cases registered or reported against the student.

UPES Employee Ward Scholarship

• UPES scholarships are awarded to the wards of the employees of the university.
• A concession of 75% on the tuition fee is awarded for up to 2 children.
• For scholarship renewal, students must maintain decorum and not be involved in disciplinary actions.
• In case the employee resigns or is terminated, then the ward must pay the entire fee that will be left for the remaining course tenure.

UPES Employee Sibling Ward Scholarship

• This UPES Scholarship 2025 applies to all UPES employees, wherein the wards of the employee's siblings benefit.
• The scholarship is eligible for up to two children with a 50% scholarship on the tuition fees.
• In case the employee resigns or is terminated, then the ward must pay the entire fee that will be left for the remaining course tenure.

UPES Scholarship Renewal Guidelines

The UPES Scholarship 2025 will be awarded to various students based on the eligibility criteria. The details of the renewal guidelines are listed below.

• Students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5 -8.5, depending on the respective scholarship criteria in each semester, with no supplementary/repeat examinations.
• The students must maintain 75% attendance in all subjects and cumulative.
• No disciplinary action should be initiated/sanctioned against the selected student, including no acts of unlawful behaviour. 
• The UPES brand in digital, print, or social media must not be maligned, including promoting, supporting, or sharing content against the university.
• The decision of the UPES Scholarship Committee shall be final applicants and cannot be challenged.
• Failure to follow any of the above criteria results in revocation of the scholarships.
• Students must note that the UPES Dehradun students will be eligible for only one type of scholarship/concession in a given academic semester or year. If a student is eligible for more than one scholarship, in that case, the student shall receive the highest scholarship/concession offered but not both.
