Entrance Exams & Admissions : B. Tech Biotechnology is a course that focuses on biotechnology along with the basics of engineering. The eligibility criteria for applying to the course at the University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata, was a minimum of 60 percent in any three science subjects, i.e., Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Mathematics, and an aggregate of 12th board marks. For the admission, students should score a minimum score in All India JEE along with the board marks. I took All India JEE as well as WBJEE, but only the former one was required during the admission procedure. The typical cut off for the B.Tech Biotechnology is a minimum of 60 percent in biology and other subjects.

Fees & Scholarships : University of Engineering and Management, [UEM] Kolkata Fee Structure. The course fee is about INR 1.35 Lakh per annum. Moreover, students with more than 90 percent in their 12th board's marks get a minimum scholarship of 20-25 percent, and every year approximately 35 percent of total students enrolled get those scholarships. They also provide special scholarships for financially back students.

Academics & Faculty : UEM, Kolkata has a very strict curriculum and has regular classes. Each class runs for 60 minutes, and at times extra classes are conducted accordingly. However, students have to attend every class, and there is no provision of free periods. We have various projects to attend every once in a while. The teachers provide very well and informative subject knowledge. E-classes and e-books are circulated by teachers, and lessons are mostly done through the projector and discussions. The teachers offer most of their experience and try to help the students.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : The college campus is quite spread with three functional buildings, a basketball court, and a field. The classrooms are large, with the capacity of holding a maximum of 75-85 students. There are seminar halls for conducting seminars and several computer labs for the CSE and other students. However, college wifi is restricted to use unless for official use. UEM Kolkata has access to hostels both for girls and boys. Apart from college hostels, PGs are available near-by the college, which charges INR 5,000 to 6,000 monthly, and each PG has specific regulations and infrastructure.

Clubs & Associations : The college has many clubs, starting from academic one's coding club to the photography club. They also conduct two annual fests; a techno-management fest, and a cultural fest. Along with that, many other events take place almost regularly. Every department organizes its annual events as well. They also have sports events for football, cricket, and basketball teams. Students participate with great enthusiasm. Students are encouraged to participate in events apart from academics and learn the basics of their lives. But on regular days, academics is considered the top priority.
