The Government of India has sanctioned two schemes entitled “Establishment of Livestock and Poultry Feed Technology Centre” and “Establishment of Rural Poultry inputs and skill development centre” with a total budget outlay of INR 301.10 lakhs to improve the livelihood of the rural sector under NADP/ RKVY for the year 2018-19. TNVASU has obtained a grant of INR 28 crores from ICAR, New Delhi under its flagship National Agricultural Higher Education Programme (NAHEP) funded by the World Bank for the project on Institutional Development Plan of TNVASU to improve infrastructure and human resource under competitive mode. The Government of Tamil Nadu has sanctioned a World Bank assisted Tamil Nadu-Irrigated Agriculture Modernisation project on Sensitising farmers on “Nutritional supplemental strategy” developed at TNVASU to increase productivity in dairy cattle and mitigate methane emission with a budget outlay of INR 200 lakhs.

Tamilnadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TNVASU) was established in 1989 in Madhavaram milk colony ,Chennai , India.The university offers courses in respective fields of Veterinary Medicine dealing with the Animal Rearing, Husbandry, prevention of various infections, diseases of animals, whereas Animal Sciences enlightens the individuals in the biology of animals in their evolution, distribution and welfare.

TNVASU Selection Criteria

For the postgraduate courses, postgraduate Diploma courses and Doctoral degree, the candidates are shortlisted purely based on the merit, counselling is given by the percentage of marks as per the norms and regulations of the Government of Tamilnadu.

TNVASU Seats Availability

Only few seats are allotted for different community regions and for special categories as differently abled, sports quota, children of Ex-serviceman, based on the guidelines prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu.

  • The percent of seats reserved for different communities are 26.5 for Backward Class, 3.5 for Backward Class (Muslim), 20 for Most Backward Class, 15 for SC, 3 for SC Arunthathiyar and one per cent for ST.
  • Five per cent of the seats are reserved for the candidates of Vocational Stream. 
  • 15% of the seats are for the candidates who are reserved via ICAR.
  • Fifteen per cent (6 seats) of the seats is reserved in BFSc degree course for the candidates applying through the ICAR through an All India Entrance Examination.
