TNTEU B.Ed Admission Process 2026

The admission process of B.Ed at TNTEU begins with online registration, followed by application submission, rank list preparation, counselling, and verification of documents. Here is the step-wise detailed admission process for the TNTEU B.Ed. program: 

Step 1: Online Application and Fee Payment

The application procedure involves online registration, followed by application submission to the Counseling Centre. 

1. Online Registration: Candidates must register and fill in their details on the specified admission portal (www.tngasa.in for Government/Government-Aided Colleges under TNTEU).

2. Fee Payment: Pay the non-refundable application fee online:

   • General/OC/BC/MBC: ₹500

   • SC/SCA/ST: ₹250

3. College Choices: Fill in the choices of Colleges of Education in the strict order of priority.

4. Submission: Download the filled priority application and the printout of the college choices. Send this hard copy to the designated Counseling Centre for processing.

Step 2: Preparation of Merit/Rank List

TNTEU prepares a rank list for all eligible candidates based on the following criteria:

1. Base Mark Calculation: The percentage of marks obtained in Part III (Major and ancillary) of the three-year U.G. Degree is taken as the base mark.

2. Reservation and Selection: The TNTEU admission guidelines mandate reservation as per Government of Tamil Nadu rules: 

   • 31% for Open Competition (OC)

   • 30% for Backward Classes (BC/BCM)

   • 20% for MBC/DNC

   • 18% for Scheduled Castes (SC/SCA)

   • 1% for Scheduled Tribes (ST)

3. Weightage Addition: Additional weightage marks are added to the base marks for higher qualifications or extracurricular achievements to finalize the rank:

   • P.G. Degree (relevant subjects): 4 marks

   • M.Phil. Degree: 1 to 5 marks

   • Ph.D. Degree: 2 to 6 marks

   • NSS (Special Camp), NCC ('B' or 'C' Certificate), or Sports (University/State/National level): 3 marks

4. Tie-Breaker: In case of equal total marks, the final rank will be declared based on the following (in the order of merit):

• • Marks secured by the candidate in the Major subject.

  • Marks secured in Allied-I subject.

  • Marks secured in Allied-II subject.

  • By a random method.

Step 3: Centralized Counseling and Document Verification

The selection is done purely on a merit basis through a centralized counseling process.

1. Notification: The date and instructions for counseling are notified on the portal and through press media.

2. Reporting: Candidates must report in person at the Counseling Centre on the specified time and date with all original certificates.

3. Document Verification: All original documents, including the Community Certificate (must be of Tamil Nadu origin), are verified.

4. Seat Allotment: Based on the candidate's merit rank, reservation category, and college preferences, a seat is provisionally allotted.

5. Cancellation: Failure to report at the specified time or failure to produce all original, specified documents will result in the immediate cancellation of the provisional allotment.

TNTEU M.Ed. Admission 2026

Admission to the two-year M.Ed. program at TNTEU is based on the Entrance Exam conducted by the university. Candidates who have completed a B.Ed degree in the relevant specialization with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for the M.Ed program. For Government & Government aided colleges, M.Ed. program application fee is ₹58 plus ₹2 as registration fee for each college applied. There is no application fee for SC/SCA/ST candidates, but they need to pay the registration fee of ₹2. 

TNTEU M.Ed Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Candidates must have passed a Bachelor's Degree in Education with at least 50% marks in theory and practical separately. Selection is strictly based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam conducted by the University. The basis of selection will be in accordance with the regulations of the University/Government of Tamil Nadu Guidelines.

TNTEU PhD/M.Phil Admission 2026 

TNTEU offers a range of doctoral-level programs in both full-time and part-time modes. The full-time M.Phil program has a duration of one year, while the part-time M.Phil course extends over two years. The Ph.D program spans three years. To be eligible, candidates must have completed a postgraduate degree in Education. Admission is granted based on performance in the entrance examination and interview conducted by the university.

TNTEU PhD/M.Phil Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Candidates must have completed M.Ed with 50% to 55% marks to pursue a PhD/M.Phil at TNTEU. Admission to the program is based on the Entrance Exam & Interview. The total fee for TNTEU PhD is INR 55,000. For TNTEU M.Phil, the total fees range from INR 25,000 to INR 55,000.

• Exemption: Candidates qualified in UGC/JRF/NET/SELT/M.Phil. in Education are exempted from appearing for the entrance exam.

• Entrance Exam Location: The entrance examination will be conducted only at the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University Campus, Karappakkam, Chennai-97.

TNTEU PhD/M.Phil Application Process and Fee

The application form can be downloaded from the University website (tnteu.ac.in). The application process is entirely offline, and the filled-in form must be submitted to the Registrar.

• Application Fee: The prescribed fee must be remitted through online only; Demand Drafts (D.D.) are not accepted.

  • OC/OBC: ₹1,000/-.

  • SC/ST: ₹750/-.

• The filled-in application should be countersigned by the Principal and the proposed guide where the candidate wishes to do the Ph.D. research.

Admission to the four-year integrated B.A.+B.Ed. and B.Sc.+B.Ed. programs is merit-based. Candidates must have at least 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 in a relevant subject. The intake capacity for each integrated course is 100 seats.
