Hostel accommodation is available with 2/4 member room. A vegetarian mess is operated in a hostel. The hostels for boys and girls separately. They also have a hostel for international students.

There are totally four hostel blocks for girls, boys, NRI girls and NRI boys separately with a canteen inside. Located in the heart of the city, the infrastructure of the college is indeed a mind-blowing one with a serene atmosphere.

Hostels are available for both boys and girls, Hostel fee is paid annually it costs INR 60,000. there are no available PGs outside campus except some houses for rent and is expensive. Food is average costs 50Rs per meal, Classrooms are comfortable, Labs and Libraries are Air conditioned, no wifi for students, dining halls are neat.

Sona College of Technology has a full fledged dispensary functioning from 11.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m in the morning and from 4.30 p.m to 6.00 p.m. in the evening. This dispensary is headed by the Dr. Ms. M. Hemavathy, M.B.B.S.. More than 500 students and 50 staff members are benefitted by this facility per month. The college is spending about Rs. 3 lakhs per annum towards medicine and maintenance.

All the students and staff enjoy free medical service at the dispensary. All the medicines needed for general problems are available at free of cost.

A staff nurse is available 24 hours to provide medical facility for any major problems like surgeries, trauma care etc. They are generally referred to Shanmuga Hospital for further treatment as we have a tie-up with Shanmuga Medical and Research Institute, Ramakrishna road, Salem. The medical expenses for the staff members, who meet with accidents during their working hours, are borne by the college management.

In future, our Institution has a plan to set up a Medical Centre in an area of about 500 sq.ft. A Physician will also be made available round the clock. We do have a proposal to start an Investigation Laboratory.


Separate hostel facilities are available for Indian and NRI boys and girls. The hostel provides accommodation and nutritious food for all the needy students. The rooms are furnished with table, chair, cot and fan.

Inside the sprawling campus of our Sona College there are three cafeteria that function well to serve the students and staff members.

The total built up area of the Cafeteria is 921.6 m2. Three of the Cafeteria function exclusively for Sona College of Technology and one is shared by both Thiagarajar Polytechnic & Sona College of Technology.

The administration of these cafeteria is given to experienced, proficient and committed contractors. All these cafeteria are open on all working days. Besides, they provide food at a very nominal price.

‘Cafeteria-I’, common to SCT and TPT is housed in a separate sophisticated building with an area of about 301.36 m2 near the entrance of the campus.

For the convenience of the students and staff, Cafeteria – I has been allowed by our Management to open its new counter in a built up area of 246.24 m2 inside the main block of Sona College of Technology. 

The latest addition is a sophisticated ‘Cafeteria – II’ along with a dinning hall in the Classroom Block with a built up area of 374 m2. It also provides best food and snacks to the students and staff.

The Library has developed an excellent collection of books, journals and non-book material in science, engineering, technology, humanities, social sciences and management. It maintains separate collections of Reference Books, Bound volumes of journals, Technical Reports, Theses, Video Cassettes, Compact Discs and Microforms. The library is using Autolib OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), wherein the users can search the Library Online Catalogue by Author's name, title, subject, and keywords available on the campus LAN.
