Ramananda College Infrastructure: Library, Gym, Auditorium, Cafeteria & Other Facilities

Ramananda College infrastructure is spread over a large area of 9.3 acres and is equipped with all the modern facilities and amenities. The college has hostels, an auditorium, computer labs, a museum, sports grounds, and staff quarters. Hostel: There are three Ramananda College hostel buildings for the students- one for boys, one for girls and one for poor and deserving boys called the “Swabalambi Chhatrabas”. The hostel is taken care of by the superintendent. Students are also expected to maintain the hygiene, etiquette and security of the Ramananda College hostels.

Library: Ramananda College has a library that has separate reading rooms for the faculty members and the students. The library is well-ventilated and lighted for comfortable seating. It is digitalized, allowing operations like an issue, return, OPAC search, and availability assessment of books to be easy. It has a massive collection of books, journals, magazines, and daily newspapers bar-coded for safety.

In addition, the Ramananda College campus library has a subscription to two digital databases, one from the N-LIST (UGC-INFONET Digital Library Consortium, INFLIBNET Centre) and the other from the NDL (National Digital Library IIT Kharagpur). The Ramananda College library books are stacked following the Dewey Decimal Classification System.

Laboratories: The Ramananda College infrastructure includes practical laboratories for all the required departments. The labs are well equipped and regularly kept up to date, according to changing syllabus. It also includes a separate laboratory for the PG Department (MSc Botany) is maintained. Several modern and scientific instruments are present in the labs for the academic research purposes of the students and faculty.

Computer and Internet Facilities: The Ramananda College infrastructure has internet facilities for better connectivity and easy academic development of the students. It has 156 computers and laptops, including the offices, library and academic departments. 

Teaching aids like LCD, overhead projectors, computerised epidiascope, and internet facilities are used during teaching sessions. An intercom telephone service connects the academic departments, office, library and the students’ union office. There is also a virtual classroom for teleconferences with various universities and colleges and nine smart classrooms on the campus.

Health Home: Heath home is integral to the college. It is a sub-division branch of Students’ Health Home in Kolkata. The health home provides treatment for the students, faculty members and staff of the college at a minimum price. Checkups are also offered at regular intervals.
