National Power Training Institute (NPTI) has been set up by the Government of India under the Ministry of Power, to function as the National Apex Body for Human Resources Development of Indian Power Sector. NPTI (Eastern Region), Durgapur is one of the nine Regional Institutes of NPTI established in 1968. NPTI (Eastern Region) Durgapur plays an important role in the field of HRD in the Power Sector as a leading Institute in the Eastern Region and till March 2010 has trained about 30000 Power Sector personnel in technical and managerial skill development programs including various professional and academic courses.

There is a separate placement cell in this  Institution. Placement cell plays a vital role in the institute to organize the campus recruitment programs for PGDC Trainees, PDC Trainees & B.Tech students. The Placement Cell provides the infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, tests and interviews besides catering to other logistics.

The placement office handles all aspects of campus placements for the graduating students at NPTI(ER). The office is well equipped with excellent infrastructure to support every stage of the placement process. Arrangement for Pre-Placement Talks, Interviews, Group Discussions etc. are all handled by the staff at the office.

The following facilities are made available for the various activities:

• Auditorium (SIT lab) to conduct pre-placement talks
• Well furnished air-conditioned room for interviews
• Fully computerized office 

The placement policies and other related activities are handled by Placement Incharge in consultation with the Student Representatives. The process of coordinating with companies for recruitment is handled by the Placement Cell.
