The main aim of the institute is to create a learning experience of the highest standards in fashion about design, technology, and management and encourage our remarkably creative student body to draw inspiration from India’s textiles and crafts while focusing on emerging global trends relevant to the industries that they serve. The contact hours have been recalibrated to 25 hours per week, giving increased time for studio practice and self–study to the students. Standardization of credits across all programs and all semesters has been undertaken. New and emerging areas across disciplines integrated into the curriculum: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Designing Ergonomic Environment, Advanced Apparel Manufacturing Management, Big Data, and Business Analytics, etc
The college is divided into departments depending on the courses. The students can choose the specifications depending on their preferences. Fashion Technology is for a term of 4 years while the courses under B.Des are for a term of 3 years. The courses are specified below:

There are a total of 2 courses, with B.Des having their specification. The minimum eligibility for applying is that the candidate should have qualified 10+2 from any recognized board. The final selection will be made based on the NIFT Entrance Exam conducted at a national level. There are a total of 37 seats per specialization and 5 seats for NRI students. The entire fee is Rs. 6.30 Lacs for an undergraduate 4-year course.
The Master of Design program is a two-year (Four-semester) full-time post-graduate program leading to the M.Des. NIFT also has 2 other PG programs including Masters of Fashion Management (MFM) and Masters of Fashion Technology (M.FTech)
There is no age limit for this course, unlike the Bachelor’s courses only that the candidate should be a minimum of 18 years old. There are a total of 37 seats per specialization and 5 seats for NRI students. The fees for Masters vary from INR 1.5 Lacs to INR 3.5 Lacs per year depending on the course.
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) offers a doctoral program through its Head Office in Delhi. The program is in recognition of high academic achievements, independent research and application of knowledge in the areas of Design, Management, and Technology as applied regarding textile, fashion, lifestyle, apparel, craft, and any other related field. The college offers full time as well as a part-time program.
