Indian Law Society Law College was established on June 20th 1924 by the Indian Law Society which was formed on March 4th 1923. The college was established to provide a regularised system for legal education. The 154 acres lush green campus with hills, trees and birds provides a pollution-free ambience. The ILS Law College ranks among the top law colleges in India. The college has maintained the standards and endeavoured and achieved its ambition to be a college of excellence among the law colleges of the country. The college is accredited with A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council [NAAC] in 2004. The ILS College provides a relaxing and flexible atmosphere for its students to grow and develop at their own pace. The Government of India has selected the college as one of the premier institutions eligible for Central Sector Scholarship Scheme of Top Class Education for Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Scheduled Caste (SC).

Indian Law College, Pune offers courses on BA.LL.B, LL.B, LL.M, PhD and various Diploma courses. ILS houses facilities like academic blocks, classrooms and lecture halls equipped with most modern smart class, interactive smartboards, library, sports and gymnasium, swimming pool, hostel facility, canteen and parking facility. The ILS campus is a disabled-friendly campus that helps disabled students to access the college facilities. The academic blocks, library, hostel, mental health centre, and arbitration centre all have ramp facility and lifts are provided for ease of access. The disabled students have the privilege to bring their vehicles inside the campus to the building where the lectures are conducted. The ILS Law College, Pune offers Earn and Learn scheme by which students could earn by working for different departments and committees in the college. There are a number of student clubs and societies like drama, debate and mooting societies and sports, trekking and other extracurricular clubs are offered in the college.

ILS Law College Facilities:

Indian Law Society Law College, Pune has an area of 156 acres with infrastructures like administrative block known as Saraswati Building, the academic block known as Laxmi Building, a library, hostel, sports and gymnasium centre, canteen, swimming pool, and separate parking area for staff and faculty, students, hostlers, and visitors.

The Saraswathi building has facilities like a conference hall, faculty offices, college office, ladies room, legal aid centre, principal’s office, and rector’s office. The Laxmi building has facilities like LL.M Department office, 19 classrooms Wi-Fi and LCD projectors, 3 classrooms with smart podiums, an auditorium, a common room, placement cell office, and faculty cabins.

The sports centre has facilities for indoor games like caroms, table tennis, chess and outdoor games like cricket, football, volleyball, basketball and 4 lawn tennis courts. The gymnasium has all the modern equipment for fitness and exercises and there is also a swimming pool on the campus. There is a canteen on the campus for the students and a mess for the resident students. 

The library was part of the college ever since the establishment of the college in 1924. The library is known as Principal Gharpure Library. It is one of the best law libraries in India. The library has a collection of 53401 textbooks, reference books, journals, legal magazines, and general books. There is also a collection of theses, projects and reports etc. the library subscribes to about  54 legal periodicals and 25 general periodicals along with 13 daily newspapers in both English and Marathi. The operations in the library are automated using SLIM-21[ System of Library Information and Management] software. The OPAC [Online Public Access Catalogue] helps users to search the book database.

ILS Law College Placements:

The placements of BA.LL.B and LL.B graduating students of ILS, Pune are handled by The Training and Placement Cell of the college. They provide support to the visiting companies as per their needs like arrangments for written tests, pre-placement talks, interviews, and group discussions. The training and placement cells prepare students to face campus interviews by arranging personal interviews, group discussions and by providing requisite training in soft skills by professional trainers. The placement cell organises campus interview for the students with law firms, industries and organisations all over India.

Indian Law Society Law College Hostel:

There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The boys' hostel has an intake capacity of 190 students. The boys' hostel is in 2 wings with a total of 117 rooms. Hostel provides basic facilities like hot water facilities, basic furniture, drinking water coolers, Wi-Fi, parking space for vehicles. The hostel will provide food to the residents although it is not compulsory to join the mess. The residents who opt not to join the mess could have food from outside but cannot order food from outside agencies. The girls' hostel has an intake capacity of 144 students. The hostel provides facilities like basic furniture, Wi-FI, hot water, drinking water coolers, sick room, washing machines, study room, TV and newspaper room. The residents are provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner.
