IIT Gandhinagar offers UG, PG, and Ph.D. levels in the following streams of Engineering and Science courses. Admission to the UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses are based on exams like JEE MAIN, JEE ADVANCE, JAM, GATE, and written tests followed by a personal interview. IIT Gandhinagar eligibility criteria for the admission of the candidates to the PG course are as follows

• M.Tech Candidates must complete their bachelor's degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks/5.5 out of 10 on a point scale in BE/BTech/MSc ( 50% marks for SC/ST candidates).
• M.Tech Candidates who have a valid GATE score (at the time of interview/written test) are eligible to apply for M.Tech.
• GATE is not required for application to M.Tech on a part-time basis or for the PGDIIT program.
• Admission to the MA program is offered based on entrance tests and interviews.
• The Institute will invite a limited number of candidates for a written test and interview based on their academics and aptitude for graduate study in the humanities and social sciences.
• Test and interview will be held at IIT Gandhinagar. 
• However, if there is any change in the venue, the shortlisted candidate will be intimated.
• M.Sc Candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree with 55 aggregate or 5.5 CGPA in relevant stream.
• M.Sc Candidates then must register and attend CCMN counseling.
• Final choices are done through a CCMN message, supporting the rank in the JAM examination.
• Admission to the Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics disciplines is conducted through the Joint Admission Test for M.Sc, while admission to the Cognitive Science program is conducted through the Institute's own written test and interview process.

• Candidates must score at least 55% marks or 5.5 CPI marks in M.A./M.Sc./B.Tech./M.Tech. or equivalent degree in appropriate branches. 
• Eligible EWS/SC/ST/PD candidates will have relaxations, as per norms, in the selection criteria.
• The candidate can have an M.Sc in Basic Sciences with 7.0 CGPA or 65% marks in aggregate in relevant disciplines, or
• The candidate can have an M.B.B.S with CGPA of 6.5 or 60% marks in aggregate, or
• The candidate can have an M.Sc/ M.A/ MBA/ M.Com in Humanities and Social Sciences or Management with a CGPA of 6.5 or 60% marks.
