The institute offers a four-year Bachelor of Design [B.Des] programme. The highlights of The Gurukul School of Design admission for the academic year 2024 is as follows:

The institute offers admission to a four-year professional programme in Bachelor of Design. Admission to the programme offered at The Gurukul School of Design, Jaipur [GSD] is subject to the merit obtained in the last qualifying examination followed by the entrance test conducted by the institute. On the successful completion of four-years, the Degree will be awarded by JECRC University, which is affiliated with UGC Degree programme. The specialization offered under B.Des admission is given below.

GSD B.Des Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking admission to Bachelor of Design programmes must satisfy the eligibility criteria set by the institute. The basic eligibility for B.Des admission is to pass the qualifying examination. Admission is based on merit followed by an entrance test.

1. Candidates passed 12th [10+2 or equivalent] from any curriculum are eligible to apply. Applicants currently in Grade 12 can also apply.
2. Applicants must have obtained at least 50% marks in 10+2 for GSD admission for the academic session 2024. Provisional applications are accepted, however, admission confirmation is granted upon the submission of 12th Marksheet.
3. Fluency in the English language is preferred. It is expected from the applicant so that they can cope up with the academic rigour and international exposure.
4. An applicant’s age should fall under 17 to 25 years old, as on the date of application submission.

B.Des Selection Process

To select the B.Des candidates, The Gurukul School of Design has set its unique criteria for conducting an entrance test for Fashion Designing after 10+2. The institute selects its candidates on the basis of five meticulous steps through its Fashion Designing entrance test.

• Self Portrait: Applicants are judged based on the expression which he/ she exhibits in front of the panel. Self-portrait must be a very personal expression, not just a mirror of something. It must be done in the most creative way. Applicants are required to use props, lighting, pose, scenery or any talent they possess and must share the artwork with GSD.
• The second step is to write a 600-word creative essay about the applicant. The writing should portray who the applicant is and should explain the self-portrait in the most attractive way.
• The third step is based on the design portfolio. The applicants are required to prepare six artworks in any medium of expression of their choice. Candidates are free to choose any medium of expression such as hand-painted/ digital or mix media to showcase their portfolio in the best way.
• In the next step, applicants must share their skills. Any kinds of skills such as photography, writing, art, styling, film, illustrations, etc can be shared.
• The last and important step is a situation exam where they have to represent their idea in a creative manner using the materials provided at the examination centre. The whole idea is to showcase the applicant’s originality along with their individuality.

Note: The whole selection process assessed will be followed by a personal interview of the applicant. The entrance exam is conducted at two-levels; Home Exam [Self-portrait and Creative Essay] and Situation Exam [Will be conducted at exam centre].

The Gurukul School of Design Admission Process 2024

The admission process of GSD consists of various components and phases. The very first step in the admission process is to ensure that the applicant meets all the eligibility requirements for admission. 

• They must have passed 10+2 from any stream with at least  50% marks. Applicants must be fluent in English and they should be between 17-25 years of age.
• Once the eligibility requirements are met, they can start the application process. Eligible candidates can visit the college website to apply and must upload all the mandatory documents.
• Home Exam [Self-portrait and Creative essay] must be submitted via mail.
• The application form must be submitted along with application fee and home exam on or before the last date of application. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
• The last date of application will be published in the ‘Calendar and Information’ section of the college website. Candidates are expected to update themselves with the dates on a timely basis.
• On the receipt of the Home Exam, candidates will be registered for the Situation Exam which will be followed by a personal interview. The candidates will receive an e-invite for the same.

GSD Admission Guidelines

• It is mandatory for all applicants to clear both the parts of the entrance exam.
• GSD entrance test results will be notified to applicants through email.
• To secure admission, candidates must pay the due fee amount as per the invoice within the specified due date. If the payment is not done before the last date, the seats will be offered to the next wait-listing candidate.
• Admissions are confirmed subject to clearance of the payment of the registration fee and submission of all documents.
• The validity of documents and responsibility for accurate/ correct data lies solely with the applicant.
• If the data provided by the applicant is found to be incorrect or inaccurate, GSD reserves the right to cancel the admission at any stage of the process leading to forfeiture of the amount paid.
• The cost of travelling/ lodging or boarding for applicants or guardians shall be borne by the self.

Situation Exam

The situation exam is conducted at the exam centre. During the exam, candidates must creatively represent their innovative ideas by using the materials provided at the exam centre. 

1. Cheating or plagiarism in any submitted assignment for the entrance exam will not be tolerated. 
2. Candidates found guilty will be disqualified immediately and will not be allowed to apply in the subsequent year. 
3. Also, missing the situation exam date or not carrying the required documents during the exam will lead to disqualification from the selection process.
4. The following documents must be carried while appearing for the situation exam:
1. A hard copy of Home Exam [Original self-portrait and prin-out of the creative essay]
2. Design Portfolio [6 hand-painted design sketches of menswear or womenswear]
3. Artwork of any medium [Writing, photography, art, film, styling, illustrations, etc]
4. Copy of the interview call email
5. Valid photo ID proof [Copy]
6. Passport size photographs [2]
7. Recommendation Letter [For scholarship purpose]
8. Stationery kit [Pencils, eraser, colours, coloured pencils, scissors, etc]

The Gurukul School of Design Application Process 2024

Eligible candidates can apply online through the official website of The Gurukul School of Design. They can also download the form, fill it up and send it via post along with the home exam. The application fee of INR 1,000 must be paid at the time of application submission. The admission fee must be paid as per GSD fee structure.

The application form is available online on the college website. Applicants must pay the application fee and fill the form. 

• After successfully submitting the form, candidates will receive an application number. 
• It can be used for all further communication with GSD. 
• Applicants must read the guidelines mentioned on the admission tab before filling the form. The incomplete application form will not be considered for the selection process. 
• Candidates must send the home exam upon receiving the application number from GSD’s admission department.
