Entrance Exams & Admissions : Gokhale Memorial Girls' College is one of the most prestigious colleges affiliated with the University of Calcutta. The admission procedure in this college is solely based on the marks obtained in the class 12 boards. They prepare a merit list for Physics, calculating the sum of the marks obtained in Physics and Mathematics. There are approximately 16 seats for Physics; however, there are more seats in the other science and art departments. The cut off for general category is around 90% for the first counselling; however, it can go to 80-85% in the final counselings for general category, and approximately 75% for reserved categories.

Placements & Internships : Since this is an undergraduate college, internship options are not very great. However, there have been great placement opportunities with government job recruiters on the campus.

Academics & Faculty : The college hours begin from 9:45 am to 4:45 pm, each class consisting of an hour. The physics department has lecturers and professors who take great care of students and teachers with utmost sincerity and dedication. The overall experience in college is really good.

College Infrastructure & Hostel Facilities : The college has hostel facilities as well as numerous PGs near the campus. The nearest one is 10 minutes walking distance from the college, with an average fee of INR 8,000 per month, including accommodation, food, and wifi. The college has a canteen with great food at affordable prices and many options for street food adjoining the campus. The arts building has spacious rooms, and the lecture halls can accommodate about 50-60 students. It has a projector system for presentations. There is a well maintained central library along with a departmental library for each department. The laboratory is also well maintained and properly equipped with a helpful lab assistant.

Clubs & Associations : The college shares the Sarala Ray Memorial Hall with Gokhale Memorial Girls' School on the same campus. Events like Foundation Day on 18th December, Exhibition, Teacher's Day, Freshers, etc. are held every year. Dance workshops, antakshari competition, and sports are also held. There is no fest, but the events in college are really fun. It gives something to look forward to every year. The college also has a cultural club which encourages participation of the girls in various events. Also, the teachers arrange for a picnic every winter.
