There is mainly one students association i.e. PGSU post graduate student union. And there is another union which is of law college under the university. The main festival is Gauhatu University Youth Festilval( or Luit Mohotsav) and the annual sports week and cultural night . And many small programs keeps going on. The university life is okay
There are hostels in our campus. There is not suffcient hostel rooms for all students but there are many PG's near our campus around 4-8 KM. The food quality is average and costs INR 40-100 per meal. Class rooms are average in our department . Labs are not good. Libraries are good, Wi-Fi is available
The chemistry department class routine is very hard to follow. It's starts from 9:00 am to 6 pm. The quality of teaching is poor. Few faculties teach very well. Overall experience was below average.
The course fee for M.Sc was INR 1,000 and sometimes INR 2,500 additional at Gauhati University, Guwahati. Only national and state scholarships are available. I don't think loans are needed.
No companies hire from here .I don't know about other departments . But no company or placement programs are held for chemistry department.
The eligibility criteria was to pass B.Sc with good percentage . There was no entrance exams held for students registered with Gauhati University . I got my seat under SC quota . There are 3 seats for SC students . My percentage is 73.2 . Cut-off for SC quota was 69. And for general quota the cutoff was 74.
In my department, we have coding clubs. Student unions are also active in the university and are doing a lot for the whole community. Festivals include Techfest of our department, university week, freshers day, Saraswati puja etc. The college life, in general, is great.
There are 2 boys hostel and 1 girls hostel. The mess fee is fairly cheap. Rented rooms and PG's are available within a 5km radius across the whole university. Classrooms are quite decent. We have a good Labs and libraries. Each department has their own library. The WiFi is available in all the department as well as hostels. College canteens are good. Food is good and they are cheap.
Classes start at 9.30 am and end at 4.30 pm. There is ample scope for projects as the professors are very enthusiastic about them. Assignments differ with subjects. We don't have midterms instead tests are conducted for the total sum of 50 marks. Apart from that, we have semester exams.
My course fee is INR 2 lakhs for 4 years. From the university, some quota based scholarships are offered. Most of the students in this category get the scholarship. The loans are not required.
I haven’t done any internship yet. The companies like TCL, Wipro, Mahindra, Infotech etc come for placements. The alumni network is not bad, they are very helpful.
For taking the B.Tech course at Gauhati University in Gauhati University Institute of Sciences and Technology one has to clear the ASSAM CEE. The cutoff mark for CSE/ECE is 118-120 and for others, it is 85.

The total fee is INR 22100 per annum and there is a counselling fee of INR1000. The tuition fee is INR 15000. Library fee is INR 100, library card fee INR100, Laboratory fee is INR 700, science caution fee is INR 500, the miscellaneous fee is INR 3800. The furniture fee and light charge sum up INR 1200. Thus the total fee is INR 23100 per annum.
Every year companies come for campus placement. The placement was 45℅ last year. Companies like Wipro, Coca-cola, TISCO, ONGC came for the placement offer. Wipro offered INR 500000 per annum, Coca-cola offered INR 480000 per annum, TISCO offered INR 550000 per annum and ONGC offered INR 600000 per annum.
There are several clubs like literary club, dramatic club. There are many platforms for the university students to show their potential.
There are numerous PGs and hostels available near the university campus. The student can also reside in the university hostel on the availability of seat. The average cost is around INR 4500 per month. However many students used to prefer living outside the university as the university hostel are not well maintained.
Course fee is pretty low here, around INR 10k per semester. Scholarship is not awarded to B.Sc students but M.Sc students may get rewarded by qualifying entrances eg ICAR,..there is no requirement of loans as the fee structure is pretty normal and everyone can afford.
There is no standard national level examination required to get admission into this University. However, till last year the criteria of admission was based on MEE (medical entrance examination) conducted by DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY, but now the situations are changed and are purely on the basis of class 12 results. The cutoff is above 85%.
There are many clubs and associations in the college and the life at the college is awesome.
