Gauhati University External Fellowship

Numerous fellowships are provided to students via different agencies or organisations in different streams for PhD scholars. 

Visvesvaraya Fellowships

Visvesvaraya Fellowships at Gauhati University are granted to research leading students of PhD degrees in the domain of IT (Information Technology) / ITES (IT Enable Services), ESDM (Electronics System Design and Manufacturing). The fellowships are provided by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) in three sections:

• Visvesvarya Full-time Phd Fellowships
• Visvesvarya Part-time PhD Fellowships
• Visvesvarya Young Faculty Fellowships

MHRD-DRDO Fellowship

MHRD-DRDO (MHRD - Defence Research Development Organisation) Fellowships at Gauhati University are only available to students of the science & technology departments of Gauhati University. These fellowships are only available for full-time research students PhD program. Domains in which these fellowships are granted are:

• High Altitude Horticulture / Agriculture
• Pharmaceutical Products for personal protection
• Bio-prospecting of bio-resources of NE India
• High Altitude Bio-Waste Management Technologies
• Vector and Vector-Borne Disease Management
• Water purification / Decontamination technologies

Internal Fellowships
