BML Munjal University is not a common name that is usually heard when it comes to college admissions. As it happens, the university is new on the block, with just 9 years of existence. It has seen many ups and downs. Some of which are still prevalent. However, in the past, after multiple complaints from the students, the university has taken considerable steps to improve.

Often, hue and cry were made by the students about the placements, infrastructure, quality of faculties, etc. As years passed, the administration has taken steps to address and fix the complaints. Come now, students are appreciative of the efforts put in. They are also satisfied with the faculties and the course curriculum.

Handful of Courses

BML Munjal University only offers a few courses. These courses are spread across the fields of management, technology, law, and commerce. The university grants undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees. 

Improving Faculties

Many a time, students have raised complaints about the quality, dedication, and expertise of faculties on various online search portals. Previously, such complaints were a common sighting. However, in the present scenario, the faculties recruited are from premiere universities who are dedicated and have the required skills. As per the recent students' insights, they are satisfied with the teachings. The students' doubts are also resolved on time. 

Shortage of Practical Learning

Even though the university has been able to improve its faculty base, it still lags in providing students with experiential learning opportunities. There is almost an absence of industry visits, workshops, conferences, or seminars. 

As per various students' reviews gathered online it is found that the students mostly have to rely on textbook references rather than on practical learning. In higher education, case study solving and practical discussions around the subjects are an integral part of the teaching process. This is severely lacking in the classroom lectures.

A deficit of such practical knowledge downgrades the capacity of the students to solve complex problems. Even though the Imperial College of London acts as the academic mentor, the college has failed to sustain the prescribed standards.

Lacking Research Facilties

Apart from the few centres dedicated to research, there is not much that can be observed. For its technology research centre, hardly any notable laboratory equipment is available for the students. Some of these are listed below:

Students pursuing research at the university are given fellowships, scholarships, and grants, provided they meet the requirements. However, there is no industry collaboration for any equipment or practical-based learning. Overall, the students have to rely solely on the equipment and resources provided by the college.

Sprawling Campus

BML Munjal University has a well-built infrastructure. It is spread across 50 acres of campus in Gurgaon, Haryana. The facilities are well-maintained and serve the daily needs of the students. Some of the unique facilities includes the following:

It might be noted that the facilities are not top-notch. Although it surely serves its primary purpose. There is 24x7 security in the college and hostel premises, making it a safe and secure place.

• Football Ground
• Tennis Court

Comfortable Hostel Facility

BML Munjal University provides student accommodation for both boys and girls. The hostels are available on a single, twin and triple occupancy basis. The room type and its charges are mentioned below:

While the tower hostel facilities follow the basic or traditional hostel style, the apartment hostels follow a flat system for small groups or individual students. The below-listed facilities are available in the hostel rooms:

The hostel charges with all its facilities sit on an expensive side of the students' pockets. However, there are hardly any complaints that can be heard from the students regarding any of the hostel facilities. There are no strict rules inside the hostel, barring the basic regulations that every hostel mandates. The entire hostel has a security surveillance system, thereby making it very safe and secure to live in.

Expensive Program Fees

BML Munjal University’s program fees are expensive compared to the overall experience provided. For the majority of departments, even though the administration is on the road to improvement, there is still time to get a stronghold for the same. 

Only three main scholarships are available to students based on merit. Apart from these, students can apply for various government scholarships and grants to ease the burden of fees.

Sub-Par Placements

Although the highest placement packages offered are lucrative, the average placement packages are below the industry standards. The core companies also do not usually tend to visit for recruitment purposes. Not only this, many departments see far fewer companies coming for placements as compared to other departments.

The students are helped and mentored for their placements with training. But ultimately, the onus is mainly left with the students to be placed. The highest CTC offered for the MBA was INR 32.21 LPA, while for B.Tech, it was INR 33 LPA. The average package for an MBA is INR 8.77 LPA, and for a B.Tech, it is INR 8.51 LPA.

Homogenity in Campus Crowd

BML Munjal University arranges social and cultural events at regular intervals. Students seem to enjoy the campus life. They also participate in sports activities. However, students from the northern part of the country mostly take admission in the college.

Very few students are seen from the rest of the parts of the country. As a result, there is not much cultural mix and share of cultural knowledge among the students. There is also no active effort to ensure a healthy balance of female/marginalised/minority students.

The college do not have any strict dress code or uniform imposed upon its students. Basic conduct and rules and regulations are expected to be followed by the students. There are several clubs that a student can join as per their interests. Student led events are organised by the clubs.

Is BML Munjal University Worth It?

BML Munjal University has its ups and downs. While it is continuing its effort to improve on its setback, the road is very long. However, the university cannot altogether be said to possess an ineffective course curriculum, placements or any other such facilities. 

It is a good college for someone who has not secured a place at top-tier private or government universities. It provides just enough opportunities and facilities to sail smoothly for the start of their career.
