Amity University, Noida is on the verge of completing two decades as a multi-disciplinary institute, and has gained immense prominence in the field of Indian education. What makes Amity Noida one of its kind is the number of courses offered on and off campus, and its world-class infrastructure which facilitates an exceptional learning experience. 

The eligibility criteria for admission into most courses at Amity University, Noida is undemanding which makes the application process effortless. However, many may find the tuition fee unduly expensive for most courses. If students do not come from a meritorious background, they may even find it difficult to apply through scholarship programmes. 

Amity University, Noida has a notorious reputation for its placement cell. Although official figures reflect high placement packages, organic reviews found online suggest that the average package at Amity Noida may be around INR 3.8 LPA. With such low packages, the question arises if pursuing higher education at Amity University, Noida is worth it, after paying sky-high course fees.

Progressive Campus Space

Amity University, Noida flaunts a new-age campus built over a sprawling 85 acres with international standard facilities. Outstation students can find a home in their apartment-styled AC and Non-AC Hostel accommodation which has a capacity of 5000 students. Basic amenities like a lounge area, cable TV and Wi-fi are provided to boarders. 

The AC Classrooms are designed in a classic amphitheatre style, which makes it a perfect space for not only the students but also instructors. Their e-Learning studios help students cater to their needs outside the classroom arena and encourages collaborative learning. 

The University is also home to a 15-acre sports complex for students to practise and nurture diverse skills besides academics. Some of the key highlights of their sports arena are their on-campus horse-riding academy, 20-lane shooting range and an olympic size swimming pool.

Students have the opportunity to access the Amity Library which is a treasure trove of 1.2 lac books and 17000 online journals. Amitians enjoy a cushy life with an on-campus food court, departmental store, bookshop and a 24x7 medical clinic. It is also one of the few Universities in India to have an on-campus IT concierge desk.

Uncompromising in Academics

Amity University, Noida teaches a plethora of courses, with specialisations in BTech to MBA. Students can opt from over 300 programmes at the University. With the ginormous range of programmes at Amity Noida, the institute supports its students with well qualified faculty making academic learning a top priority. 

The student to teacher ratio at the Varsity is 120:1, which makes it difficult for the teaching staff to attend to the requirements of each student. But, faculty reviews on various social platforms indicate that the professors do their due diligence if students oblige and present their difficulties. Hinting how the majority of the staff is approachable, good, and act as pillars in the student’s academic journeys. 

Exams are held year round, though students have pointed out how the college does not have specific timelines for exams. Students are usually anticipating when yearly exams will occur, as the authorities do not seem to be transparent about the examination routine. This has built a room for confusion over the years, between the examination body and students.

Although Amity University, Noida hires well-experienced instructors who are knowledgeable and subject matter experts, students have encountered biassed and unprofessional behaviour from faculty members and University support staff. However, most have applauded the faculty’s dedication and kindliness.

Students have often remarked how the curriculum followed at the University is rigorous with 11 to 12 subjects per semester, making courses challenging. Additionally, the University's attendance policies are reportedly strict with a mandate of 75% upkeep. 

Sub-standard Diversity and Inclusiveness

The Amity University, Noida has devised an integrated ‘Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Policy’. Primarily, the policy aims to ensure non-discrimination, promote equal opportunities and foster inclusion regardless of age, gender, caste, community, race, faith, marital status etc. 

Overall the University wishes to create an environment of inclusiveness that encourages and respects the diverse characteristics of each individual. But is the environment at Amity University, Noida really collaborative? Students beg to differ. 

In recent news from reputed outlets, two female students of Amity Noida were caught on camera physically assaulting each other due to unknown reasons. This sent out a negative message and students took to social media, addressing the issue as “Never a dull day in the life of Amitians”. 

Although investigations are underway for the mishap, students have faced similar discriminatory issues in the past. In fact, some have complained of the academic atmosphere being hampered due to a persistent classist crowd. 

Easy Dress Code and General Code of Conduct

The University does not have a strict dress code for most courses, however students pursuing BBA/MBA, and Hotel Management may have to dress in formal attire occasionally. Students studying Law at Amity are advised to attend classes in white shirts and white/black/grey formal trousers, per the instructions of the Bar Council of India. Apart from this, there is also not strict rules and regulations implemented in the campus.

The ‘no-specific code of conduct’ encourages a free-spirited and unconstrained atmosphere. Students have the liberty to express themselves freely and focus on academics completely. 

Pricey Hostel and Food Facilities

Amity University, Noida provides standard accommodation facilities on twin or three sharing basis to national and international students. Here are some of the key highlights of the accommodation. 

• The rooms are moderately spacious with basic amenities like air conditioning, almirah, study desk and attached bathroom. 
• In their free time, students can make good use of their time by watching television in the lounge area or use the Wi-fi.
• Food can be stored in the AC room’s floor refrigerator although mess services are available at an additional cost. 

Hostel Code of Conduct

Students are expected to sincerely maintain hostel rules, like no consumption of liquor or drugs in hostel premises etc. There is a strict policy for Ragging in Hostels, students found guilty of assault, threat or intimidation have been dealt with strictly in the past. Disciplinary actions will  be taken if hostellers are found violating the code of conduct. 

Hostel Fee Rates

Amity University, Noida hostel fees are expensive and charges a lump sum amount as hostel fee from Boarders, which are as high as INR 1.28 LPA. Mess facilities are available on an actual basis. Interested candidates can review the hostel fee for male and female boarders below.

Since the University hosts students from diverse backgrounds and interests there are several recreational amenities a hosteller can avail. Students have questioned the hidden charges against student amenities, but the College has notified that all fees collected goes towards repair and maintenance purposes. 

Superior Security 

The campus is guarded with high levels of security with the use of smart cards, biometric readers, IP cameras, fire-warning systems, 24 hours security guards and patrol cars. Students can utilise the chip-enabled smart card as an e-wallet at bookshops and the cafeteria. Parents and students can be both assured that the hostel is safe and secure.

Parents have expressed their confidence in the college's surveillance systems. Moreover, during covid-19 the college underwent regular sanitisation drills, with an on-site clinic, and all-round faculty support. 

Exciting Festivals and Co-curriculars

Amity University is buzzing with festivals and co-curricular events all year round. Starting from Fresher’s Party to Debates, quizzes, music and dance competitions, the Noida campus hosts it all. Sangathan and Amity Youth Fest are the two popular and biggest events curated by the college. Here’s a brief look into these fests:

• Sangathan is an annual mega sports meet which carries on for a month celebrating Amity’s founder Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan. Students participate in over 35 different sports to win the much coveted Sanagthan trophy.
• Amity Youth Fest (AYF) is a cultural festival open to institutes globally. Students from unique backgrounds are given a platform to showcase their skills, interact through competitions and celebrate the heritage and culture of Amity. 

Infamous Placements

The placement assistance cell at Amity University, Noida does not have a clean reputation. Students have highlighted on various search portals about several issues they have encountered concerning placements. Many have accused the college of false promises of 100% placement rate. Reported struggles with the placement assistance has brought down the University’s reputation despite its many offerings. 

Amity University fees are high and students believe it does not serve as a great return on investment compared to smaller universities in India. At the end of the day, all graduates wish is to go home with a great in-hand package. 

Although top companies grace the University’s yearly campus placements, vacancies are low and enrollers are high, which reduces the success rate of achieving a desired post.

On an average the placement package offered after UG completion ranges from INR 3.8 LPA to INR 4.5 LPA. This makes it tough for students who spend over INR 16 Lakhs for their degree.

• H-Block - The in-campus food court for Amitians, has a Dominos, Subway, CCD, Dosa Plaza and more for students to enjoy between lectures. 
• Balli - This is a tiny food vendor outside of the campus situated in sector 126, and is popular for vegetarian dishes. Non-vegetarians can try the lip-smacking middle snacks at Balle Balle Shawarma which is right next to it.
• Chicken Paratha at Gate No.4 - A regular joint among hostellers, Chicken paratha at gate no.4 makes the best chicken parathas for hungry amitians.
• Arcadia - Amitians can enjoy their off-time at Arcadia, playing foosball, playstation and club sports, which is located close to the campus.

Amity University, Noida will offer a worldly education experience for students with their ultra-modern campus, and access to the latest curriculum. Students can select their choice of subject from a sea of programmes, each with its own advantages.
