Chandigarh University Organized AI Higher Education Summit 2025

Chandigarh University, Uttar Pradesh, proudly hosted the first-ever AI Higher Education Summit 2025, aligning with India’s ambitious IndiaAI Mission. With the theme "From Classroom to Cloud: Pioneering the AI Future," this groundbreaking event brought together a diverse mix of policymakers, global AI experts, academic leaders, industry professionals, educators, and students. The summit focused on the transformative role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of education and the workforce.

AI as India’s Growth Engine

In his keynote address, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak highlighted India’s AI advancements, emphasizing the $1.25 billion investment that supports the nation’s AI ecosystem. He reiterated that India is one of the top 10 AI-ready nations, drawing attention to the increasing investments from global giants like Microsoft, Google, Nvidia, and Amazon. Pathak also showcased AI’s far-reaching impact, from content creation to industries like manufacturing, logistics, and surveillance.

The Deputy CM’s speech underscored AI’s role in driving India’s economic growth. AI’s contribution to India’s GDP is projected to reach up to $1.5 trillion by 2030. He also announced the development of India’s first AI city in Lucknow’s Nadarganj area, which will span 70 acres and create over 50,000 AI jobs over the next five years. This is a monumental step toward transforming Uttar Pradesh into an AI hub.

Powering AI-Driven Learning

Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu of Chandigarh University highlighted the critical role AI is playing in reshaping education. He spoke about the university’s commitment to providing AI-driven multidisciplinary education, preparing students for careers in emerging technologies.

With AI adoption set to add $90 billion to the Indian economy by 2025 and create 47 lakh jobs by 2028, Sandhu emphasized that AI will be central to the future of both education and the workforce. He further explained that Chandigarh University, situated near India’s first AI city Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh is uniquely positioned to equip students with the skills needed to thrive in this rapidly changing landscape.

The event was graced by the Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Brajesh Pathak, who joined as the Chief Guest. Apart from this, Mr. Vivek Agrawal (MD, Accenture Pvt. Ltd.), Shri M.P. Agrawal (IAS, Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh), Shri. Abhishek Parkash (IAS, CEO, Invest UP, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh), and Shri. Ravi Ranjan (IAS, Managing Director, U.P. Electronics Corporation Limited, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh) was the Guest of Honor.

• “The Global Perspective: Integrating AI into Academia and Curriculum” – This panel, featuring experts like Ms. Lata Singh, Prof. Seema Paroha, Dr. Arun Mohan Sherry, Mr. Pankaj Mishra, and Dr. Pushpendra Kumar Tripathi, discussed the importance of policy frameworks and industry partnerships in driving AI adoption in education. The panelists stressed the need for academic institutions to align their curricula with the latest industry trends and create AI-focused learning opportunities.
• “Bridging the Gap: Building A Talent Pipeline Driven by Policy, Industry, and Academia” – Featuring experts like Dr. GK Goswami, Prof. Shiv Kumar Dwivedi, Pramod Kumar Jha, Dr. Manoj Rana, and Dr. Nagendra Yadav, this discussion focused on the importance of aligning India’s education system with global trends. The panelists discussed how AI can revolutionize teaching, research, and assessments. They emphasized the need for cross-disciplinary learning, international collaborations, and personalized education to drive curriculum innovation.
