Lakshya Institute of Technology was established in 2016. The institute was the dream project of "Gyatri Educational and Charitable Trust" and was founded under the Mr. Susant K Rount [Chairman of LIT BBSR]. The institute is affiliated to Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. Since the start, the institute has been striving to offer the best academics keeping in mind the future of the students.

LIT Bhubaneswar offers industry oriented academics. LIT Fees differs according to the fields of science and computer application. The university maintains a harmonious relationship between the students, the institute and the corporate sector. The Institute offers part-time and full-time courses. It all started in 2011 with the birth of LIT - Susant K Rout's Centre of Excellence. In 2012, they became partners with PHI, TATA Mc Grawhill and Vikash publication house.

In 2014 they organised the State Level C Marathon. In the year 2018, LIT Bhubaneswar came into existence, 2 years later, the VUE Test Centre was launched. By 2019, the institute would have trained about 2 lakh students.
