Placements and Internships

PESMCE offers a Training and Placement Cell, where the staff prepare the students for their Placement rounds. Mock Placements are conducted to give an idea of how the actual Placement would feel. This boosts the confidence of the student and would improve his skills. Various activities and workshops are conducted which are very beneficial. Bitwise, TATA, Byju's are some of the major recruitment companies that visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 10L per annum. So, placements aren't an issue in this college. Various opportunities are provided.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are a lot of hostels available, the hostel fee varies slightly every year, so your best option is to talk to them directly for negotiation and other terms. There are tons of PGs around and there is absolutely no issue in finding one and the cost is student friendly so there is no need to worry about it as well. The canteen is very hygienic and pocket friendly.

A proper meal costs around Rs60. Classrooms are fine and are equipped with smart boards, there are a number of labs for various courses and are Air Conditioned with Wi-Fi connectivity available throughout the campus. The only downside is that there is no range available for your smartphones in most of the campus. Libraries are well equipped and are very spacious, but the Dining Hall on the other side is very small to accommodate the number of students in the campus

Entrance Exams and Admissions

The admission process is based on marks obtained in your JEE (Join Entrance examination) or CET(Common Entrance Examination. To start the admission process, students generally need to register for the CAP(Centralised Admission Process). CAP centres are then allocated to all students where the students need to physically be present to verify their JEE/CET/Board Marksheets and other details. PESMCE offers two shifts and both shifts can be selected during CAP process and either shift will be allocated based on availability and marks. Generally, the cut-off for last year(2019) closed at 92 percentile for the Mechanical Branch

Academics and Faculty

Working days are from Monday to Saturday with Saturday being half-day. Timings from Monday to Friday are 9am-4pm/5pm(Varies on days with extra lectures). Saurday timings are 9am-1:15pm. Two breaks are provided on normal college days, one short lasting for 15 minutes and one long lasting for 45 minutes. Assignments are a must and teachers give at least 1 every week.

Exams are based on the SPPU pattern. one Insem examination and one Endsem examination per semester, each semester lasts 5 months at least. The staff is excellent and very friendly, the overall quality of education is up to the mark. They are understanding and not just are teachers but mentors as well. The overall vibe of the college is very friendly, the seniors are helpful and nice, you don't need to worry about ragging as there are strict laws imposed.

Fees and Scholarships

4

PES Modern College of Engineering, [PESMCE] Pune fee structure. The fee for my course is around 1L per year, which is almost equal to other colleges falling under SPPU for Engineering. There is an option to pay in Installments if one does not want to pay the entire fee upfront. Scholarships are available to students falling under EBC (Economically Backward Class), meaning your annual salary needs to be less than 8L per annum, in such cases Scholarships are provided which slash the fees by 50% per year. No loans are needed in my opinion as there are various schemes and the fee structure is very flexible. Many students get the scholarship so there is no worry of missing out on it.

Clubs and Associations

4.5

There are tons and tons of clubs to choose from. From robo club to the Formula racing team club to astronomy club, to aero modelling club, the list just goes on and on. The Baja team of PSMCE stood 2nd overall in India last year amongst all colleges, The Baja is a club which develops off road cars, you can enroll in it. Every Even semester(2nd,4th,6th,8th) are the various events of college, from Cultural to Technical to Sports, the events are stretched out for a week. The atmosphere is very lively and refreshing.

Academics & Faculty : Daily routine is quite puntual. College starts at 8:45 A.M with a recess break from 10:45 A.M to 11:00 A.M. Which is followed by 2 hours of lectures and then recess from 1:00 P.M to 1:45 P.M again Every day follows 4 hours lectures and two hours practicals, except Saturdays and one week day, on which there are just 4 hours of lectures or pratical. Teaching staff is good but not at  their best . They have teachers from NIT which have a better ability to teach effectivelly. Overall, it's a good college for those who do not attend regularly The campus is located in the heart of the city
