Placements and Internships

I have done two internships. One is from a hospital in Manimajra, Chandigarh regarding psychological disorders. This internship was a part of my course so I don't get any stipend. Anther internship was under Chandigarh University regarding Career Counselling they pay me 5000/month and the internship was for 3 months so the total stipend I got was Rs 15000 and the incentives were Rs 1000. The average salary figures are 2 lakh p.a. and the highest salary figures are 20 lakh p.a. and average of 60-65% of students get placed. The alumni network is great.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

This is a distance learning course so we don't have to worry about hostels. The quality of classroom, labs are very good. You got each and everything you needed to do with your practical part. The study material will be sent to your address and also available on E-Content of IGNOU (which is included in fees only), so students don't have to worry about books and study material if they want to pursue their education as distance learning.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

The eligibility criteria must be 45-50%. This is a distance learning so there is no age bond, anyone can go with any course even while working.

For Admission, it is an online procedure. Students have to submit a scanned copy of graduation degree, any identity card(license/ aadhaar card/ passport/ pan card/ voter card), passport size photograph, and signatures and then fill the given form regarding personal detail and course detail (what to pursue and other qualification details). Payment of fees is also done by online baking or by debit/ credit card. There is no entrance exam. There are no cutoffs for any course if you want to pursue it from IGNOU, one should have to just pass for the previous course he/ she has done.

Academics and Faculty

3.5

Because there is only distance learning so that student does not have to attend classes daily in their respective study centers. The study center is also selected by the student at the time of admission.  There are classes on weekends only, where students have to submit their assignments and also can share their queries. Students have also submitted the projects and project-related guides are also provided under the study center. Exams are scheduled on an annual basis, the exam center is also selected by the student according to their convenience.

Quality and the method of teaching is very good. Almost every class is very interactive so that every student can put their ideas and thoughts forward.

Overall experience is good because there are every age group students who come to learn, they also share their experiences which helps to choose a career perspective very smartly.

Fees and Scholarships

4

Indira Gandhi National Open University, [IGNOU] New Delhi Fee Structure. The fee for my course is Rs 15,600 per year.

There are two types of Scholarships provided by IGNOU. The first one is IGNOU Scholarship Scheme under the Trust Fund. The second one is IGNOU Scholarship Scheme under National Funds. 25% of total admission students get the scholarship. There is no explicit loan provision available for IGNOU courses to date for the candidates. Recently, the National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation (NHFDC) introduced scholarship and loan facilities only for Physically challenged candidates wherein 1500 selected candidates who are physically challenged are given this opportunity. The Scheme shall be implemented through Canara Bank, which is the Nodal Bank for the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Modalities for implementation and monitoring shall be finalized in consultation with the Canara Bank.

Clubs and Associations

3.5

This is a distance learning university, people who are already working somewhere are more likely to join the universities so they don't need any extra co-curriculum activities to do but IGNOU provide the research work to those who interested to pursue Ph.D.

Entrance Exams & Admissions : I'm studying now in IGNOU and my Subject is BTS (Bachelor of Tourism Studies), duration 3 years normally. For taking this course you need to qualified 12 (HSSLC) normally from government approved school or from NIOS with a good grade. The fees structure is for one year Rs. 3000. And there is July and January season. For July season you need to take admission in July and exam next year July, same goes for January season. No need entrance examinations. It is a very good subject or course to take and study, it gives us lots of knowledge and understanding the point of view of our social life and culture, language and traditions many other things, etc.
