We have to do a 1 year compulsory internship at our hospital during which we will be awarded with a stipend of Rs. 25000 per month. After completion of 1 year internship, we will get our permanent registration number as well as our license to practice as a doctor.
There are 2 boys hostels, 5 girls hostels in our campus each of them in good condition and are kept quite clean. Hostel fee is quite less since this is a government college around 200 rupees per year. There are a number of PGs around our college providing accommodation at reasonable prices around 4000-5000 per month excluding food. Food is quite good in college canteens. It costs around 50-60 rupees for having a decent meal. Classrooms are quite nice and smart having projectors and audio visual assistance. Library is quite big with central air conditioning and high speed WIFI.
The entrance examination I took was NEET UG. Cutoffs vary year to year along with the level of difficulty of the paper. In my year i.e. 2017 the cutoffs were around 500. So scoring above 500 meant a sure MBBS seat in West Bengal. The eligibility criteria specify that the student must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent with 50% marks in Physics Chemistry and Biology for UR category students.
Daily routine is quite good but sometimes feels a bit packed. We have our classes from 8am-4pm during which we have our Ward duties for 2 hours, practicals for 2 hours, 3 lectures of 1 hour each and 1 hour lunch break. Quality is quite good and the methods of teaching are quite effective owing to smart classes with projectors and audio visual assistance. The overall experience in college is quite fantastic. Seniors are quite helpful and co curricular activities are also there to keep us from feeling monotonous and bored.
Since this is a government college fees are quite less. Rs. 4500 per semester i.e 9000 per year. The students can avail any type of Central or State government scholarships whichever they choose. Loans aren't needed because course fee is quite less.
There are a number of clubs in this college like sports club, photography club, literary club, art club, music club and a Student's Union. We also have our own annual magazine of our college and an official college band. We have one cultural fest ECSTASY and a pre fest ENTHUSIA. Life in college is quite dynamic and happening.
