Nisha Verma's Review on IIIT Bhubaneswar - International Institute of Information Technology

Almost 90% of the students get placed after the completion of their course. Companies that hire from the campus are TCS, Infosys, DELL, HSBC, Ernst & Young, WIPRO and others. Companies such as HSBC, E & Y hires for both technical profile and management profile. In the 5th semester, DELL takes a student for an internship after the 6th semester in the summer. The training over there is for 2 months and if a candidate performs well during the training period, they are given a pre-placement offer. Average salary figure per year is 5-6 lakhs. Highest salary offered by the campus is 12 lakhs which is offered to 2-3 students and one or two students who are great in their field can get a package up to 30 lakhs per annum.

There are two hostels each for boys and girls. One is an old hostel and the other is the new hostel. In the old hostel, there are sharing rooms for 2 or 3, if one wants to get a two sharing room the hostel fee is around 14,000 INR per semester and if one wants a three sharing room, hostel fee is 10,000 INR per semester. And in the old hostel, washrooms are common. The new hostel rooms are basically an apartment type which has a common room and 4 private rooms and 2 washrooms and a balcony. The hostel fee for the new one costs around 20,000 INR. Both of the hostels don't have ACs. The campus is located at the outskirts of the city, so there are fewer options available for PGs nearby. Near the city, there are PGs available but the student has to travel every day to the college which could take about 2 hours daily for going to and returning from college. The food in the college is fine and every week student needs to buy coupons for the next week. Cost per meal is 25 INR ( for lunch and dinner each). And for breakfast its 10 INR. Wi-Fi quality is good. College infrastructure consists of an academic block, Girls Hostel, Boys hostel and hostel for staffs. There are two libraries. Also, there is a reading room where students can sit and study. The timing of the reading room is up to 8-8:30 at night.

The course in which I am enrolled in is B.Tech (Computer Engineering). Those students who have qualified JEE Mains are eligible for admission in the college. After the result declaration of JEE Advanced, the college start releasing the cut-offs. Generally, they conduct 6-7 rounds and after that, there is a spot round. Also if after spot round if there are any seats available they conduct a special spot round which is done in August. First cut-off list for Computer Science Engineering is generally between the range 180-200 marks (obtained in JEE Mains).The last cut-off ranges between 120-140 marks. After the last cut-off, spot round is held in which the cut-off is decided according to the seats left in that branch. For spot round, the student needs to apply for that through the college website. Students need to check the college website for the date of the spot round.

Class timings are different for different year students. For the first years, class timings are mainly from 8 am to 3 pm. from the second year onwards class duration is decreased to 4-5 hours but sometimes it can be more depending on the extra classes taken by the teacher. Each semester, students are given at least 2 projects to be done which can be done in groups. Mid-semester exams are held at the end of September which is done in consecutive three days. There are 6 theory subjects in every semester. So during mid-semester, students get less time for preparation as there are two exams held in a day. Method of teaching is good depending on the teacher we get. After classes, the student gets time to study subjects apart from the academic ones. Overall experience in college is good.

International Institute of Information Technology, [IIIT] Bhubaneswar [B. Tech] Fee Structure. The fee for my course is Rs 2,00,000 per year. The scholarship is given to students according to their performance. Students who rank in the top five positions of their respective branch receive the scholarship. An average number of students who get a scholarship is 10-15 from a year.

There are various societies such as Art and Design Society (for those interested in art, craft, decoration), News and Publication Society(for those having interests like writing articles, debates, speeches), Cult Society(includes music band, dance club). The main events on campus are Advaita(college fest),

Inter-branch football competition, Interbranch cricket competition, etc. Festivals like Holi, Diwali are celebrated in the college. During Navratri, there is a ten days holiday. Overall, life in college is great as there are many non-academic activities for students for building their overall personality apart from academic.
