Placements and Internships

Placements are awesome! Last year, the placements were 120%.We being a women's university get a slight advantage in some companies where it is mandatory for them to maintain the employee gender ratio.Every year Microsoft has been recruiting many,Besides, there are lots of mass recruitors like Aricent, TCS etc.Other companies that visit the campus are Chevrolet, Maruti, Cisco, Tech Mahendra, Erricson etc. For internship Cisco, GE,Maruti come, also there is on campus internship but that is for IT and Computer science students mainly. Other students do internships either through personal contacts or by applying in companies like C-DOT.

College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

The building is more than 100 years old and has been declared a heritage property by the government. The labs are good.We have an auditorium too. We have a large ground which is the most happening place in the college during winters. The ground is surrounded by 5 buildings belonging to the different departments. What I love the most about my college is its location. We have Red fort at a walking distance, the largest electronics market of Delhi- Lajpat Rai is in the vicinity,The famous Connaught Place is 4 metro stations away(the best place to hangout in Delhi) and also we have got this movie theatre RITZ(small though) nearby. The canteen Strishakti is also a very good and affordable, their 'spicy maggi' is my personal favorite.

Academics and Faculty

4.5

The courses offered in IGDTUW(formerly Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology) are B.Tech(in Comp. Sc,Electronics and communication, Info Tech and Mechanical and Automation), M.Tech, MCA and Ph.D. The college starts at 9 in the morning till 5 though most of the students stay in the college till 7 because of projects and all. Not all but yeah about 60% of the books can ne issued from the library book bank. Not to worry about the rest 40% books because there is a second hand book market NAYI SADAK which is a 20 min walk from the college or why walk you can always take the metro which is a 4 min walk from the college. There you can get books for a very good price and can even return them at 50%. The labs are open till 5 from monday to saturday and the assistants are very helpful.Faculties are all good..most of them possessing doctorates from reputed institutes. Since it's a womens university most of the faculty members are female.

Fees and Scholarships

3.5

There are scholarships for the 3 toppers of the university. Besides there are scholarships for the students whose parents work in public sector and for the students belonging to SC and ST.Since its a state government university, the fees is not that high..it is around Rs.50,000 per year which is quite less compared to the other institutions.

Clubs and Associations

5

Here I would give a 10/10. There are lots of societies such as IEEE, CSI, Robolution, Technoliteraty, Greensphere, Supra, Baja and lots others. Robolution is the club I head and this is the best part of my college life. A girls robotics team is a rare sight in various state, national as well as international level competitions. Also, there are technical and cultural fests every year of which almost the whole college is a part of , so it keeps us busy the whole year.

Academics & Faculty : The classes are held five on all weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm. The division of class hours between theory and practical session at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women. Assignments are regularly given and evaluated. However, students could do with a few more. Projects are more of a thing undertaken by final year, however, keen freshers and sophomores are welcome to pursue their area of interest by the faculty. The course structure has been revised according to relevance in the present industrial scenario. The faculty is nice and a few are actually reason enough to arouse interest in a particular subject.

Academics & Faculty : Schedule, yeah it is hectic if you follow it.We have our schedule from 9 to 5.Sometimes,its continuous without any break, but normally we get 1 hr. break in between.Assignments,Internal tests,Attendance actually influence your internal marks a lot.The whole thing is based on these. Usually teachers opt their own classy method of teaching on their own. You just need a pen and notebook to take the notes because they are very useful as per internal tests. No books are actually required for class but for externals you will need one. And as our college opt semester system then you don't need to buy new book every time. You can have second hand books from seniors.Teachers are normally available in college till 5.So, you can reach them and they can help you with your issues.
