Internships are available for a select few. There are a few professors who do help out in this aspect. Campus placements are generally quite good. In my batch, out of 140 odd students in my department, about 100-110 got placed from campus interviews in companies like TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, UST Global, etc. Salary figures are in line with industry standards. Nothing extraordinary, but certainly not below average.
The basic eligibility criteria are to have a science background in the +2 standards. Physics, chemistry, and mathematics are mandatory subjects along with you're chosen first and the second language. Also, proficiency in English is recommended as the course is taught in English. One will have to appear in West Bengal Joint Entrance Exams to be eligible. Also one needs to have a minimum of 60-65 % marks throughout. Typical cutoffs vary, but a rank within the top 8000 in JEE should be sufficient.
Classes generally start at 9 a.m. They get over by 4-5p.m. depending on the number of subjects and the complexity of each subject being. Classes are generally of a duration of 40 minutes. They are a mixture of theoretical and laboratory classes. The teachers are quite good on average. Most of them are quite willing to help out students outside of classes if the student has any doubts. The overall experience is positive. Obviously, it is a mixture of good and bad. But the good generally outweighs the bad.
Fees during my time were INR 80000 a year. I hear it has been reduced a bit. Scholarships are not provided by the college. There other scholarships that are available from the government or other organizations which can help pay the tuition fees. If loans are required, they are available from most banks. I know of people who got loans from PNB, Axis, SBI, etc.
