M.R.Charan Ravishankar's Review on SASTRA University, Thanjavur

Companies like Infosys, Wipro, Satyam and much more are recruiting many students from SASTRA.

The proud recruiter of SASTRA is TCS and they take a whole lot from SASTRA and make records each year in recruiting many students from SASTRA.

90% of students get placed each and every year and students from other states generally join SASTRA for its great placement statistics.

Being a day scholar, I will mention things as far as I know.

There are about 5 to 7 hostels for boys and the same for girls. The hostels are good but the food there is not satisfactory for students, mainly because SASTRA won't provide NON-VEG. The hostel fee is very less here and is around INR 30000 for a year along with mess and other fees related to a hostel. Mess feed here a month costs around INR 2000 - INR 3000 and is good.

Classrooms are perfect and talking about labs, SASTRA has the best facilities in the whole of Asia. The Central library is huge and has all kinds of books department wise and even other novels and storybooks.

WiFi, to mention, SASTRA and NIT-T only have a tie-up with NKN(National Knowledge Network) and has a very high-speed internet, but the only drawback is that you can use this WiFi only in laptops and not in mobiles!

The eligibility criteria to enter SASTRA is to have good marks in your higher secondary and a good total in your JEE MAIN.

Coming to admission procedure, SASTRA purely believes in transparency!! According to their slogan, THINK MERIT, THINK SASTRA!, they follow a good administration in admitting students in their institution.The only way to enter SASTRA without good merit is to enter via NRI quota.No other ways are possible to enter SASTRA. It doesn't even follow reservation system.

No need for any entrance exams to enter SASTRA, but attempting to JEE MAIN will help you a lot in your admission.

Class timings are from 8:30 to 5:30 unlike other Anna university colleges, because its a deemed private university.

Quality of teaching is great and they follow the same method of teaching as in schools. We have three internal out of which two best are taken as internal marks and they add it to the semester marks.

My overall experience at the college is AWESOME.

Per year my course fee is around INR 55000.

Sastra also provides many scholarship facilities for students who can't afford and also for outstanding students!! They also help us in a great way in applying for National Scholarship conducted by the central government.

Loans are particularly needed for students who are suffering and also availing for a loan is much easier here at SASTRA!! Once you enter the college, they make you open an account in CUB for your further transactions in SASTRA.

There are various clubs at SASTRA that would take you a year or two to identify them all!!They have student EXNORA club, NCC, NSS and other clubs for societal benefits and much more!!

Coming to fest's, SASTRA cultural team is undefeated one in the famous NIT-T's FESTEMBER and the tech fest of SASTRA is called the DAKSH.Sports fest of SASTRA is called the COLOSSEUM and the cultural fest is called the KURUKSASTRA.

As a whole, life in SASTRA will be a memorable and an enjoyable one, I hope.
