Placements are good in Thapar and that is why it has maintained its name among the best colleges in Punjab.Average salary is about Rs 6 lakhs. Companies like Texas Instruments, Sandisk and Microsoft visit the campus.

About the internships-

There are ample of opportunities for Mechanical branch and CS(with good companies like Microsoft and Amazon visiting the campus). Some companies also visit the campus for ECE (and related profiles of EIC and Electrical). But mostly one has to rely on the vacancies (apply online for internships) or rely on his/her contacts.

Since its an old college it has an effective alumni network. A seperate student committe inside Thapar helps in building further relations with the alumni.

Infrastructure is great here with several academic blocks buildings and Lecture hall complex and some under construction. Now it also has a management campus in Chandigarh. It has a central library. Labs are well equipped and classrooms are also good

Rickshaws and e-rickshaws are available easily to commute within the campus. All hostels are equipped with Wi-fi. Cheap transport is available outside the campus also so it becomes easy for students to travel inside and outside the campus.

Academics is good in Thapar university. All classes are engaged in time. Each student is required to keep his attendance record above 75% to prevent detention from that subject. Some Professors are really good and helpful and most professors can be easily accessed outside the classroom.Classes are engaged from 8-5 but actual schedule may vary from branch to branch. We have a CGPA system here (some college also follow % system). At the end of the semester students can also rate the quality and methodology of teaching by filling a SRS(Student Response Survey)

Fees is a bit high as compared to other colleges. Although the fees used to be like other govt. colleges a few years back it has significantly increased from a past few years.Scholarships are available based on your merit. Top three students get a merit scholarship from each branch every year. Merit cum means scholarship is also available for financially weak students. Bank loans are also available. A branch of State Bank of Patiala is also present inside the campus.

There are a lot of clubs and associations in Thapar giving the students here great opportunities to groom their talent and skills. Some societies also give a chance to visit abroad for an internship.

A synthetic running track may be the point of attraction of sports complex but each and every sport is played with complete enthusiasm here with facilities available for each sport from cricket to tennis to basketball and many more.
