College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities

Gargi does not have a hostel of its own but is surrounded by many PG's as it falls in a very student friendly area of Delhi . The PG rates range from ₹8000-₹15000/month and the living is comfortable. The college canteen could not be any better. From snacks to proper thalis, everything is available at very subsidised rates and the hygiene is taken into account seriously. The classrooms are well maintained and some have air conditioners attached as well, the library is a haven for bibliophiles for it is big, spacious and stocked with different kinds of books for all courses. The dining area is a tad bit crowded but that brings a homey feel to the surrounding as well as a clear view of the open kitchen with the food being made . The only problem I have is with the WiFi signals , which never seem to be there , especially in the science block.

Entrance Exams and Admissions

There were 3 cut off lists for Zoology Hons the year I took admission. It started from 95% and above and ended at 90%. These percentages were representative of the cumulative percentage of 3 main subjects in 12th including biology. All those eligible according to the cut off list and interested in joining Gargi could simply come with the required documents, which included the marksheet, transfer and character certificate , DU registration form and so on, to the administrative block , contact the main office and get admission .

Academics and Faculty

4.5

As science students, one is not surprised by the number of classes and the packed schedule, but it is not as harrowing as one may think for we get ample time to study and participate in extracurricular activities . The time table consists of theory lectures and practicals in fair distribution. If one day the classes extend till 5 in the evening, the other day one may get free by 12.30. Exams are well placed with considerable time to prepare while the assignments and projects are interesting and engaging. The teachers put in their full effort and expect the same from students as well. The college has an overall electric environment with something or another going on in every corner of the campus.

Fees and Scholarships

4

The course fee was ₹8000, while for the second year, it was ₹10,000. Scholarships are not needed because the fee is already is very affordable. In fact, there are a lot of facilities that the students can avail easily, for example applying for a bus pass or voter ID card and so on.

Clubs and Associations

4.5

Gargi has many societies, both performing and non-performing. We have: NAZAAKAT- the Indian dance soc IRIS- the photography soc KSHITIJ- the street play so ENLIVEN- the Western dance soc EUPHONY- western music so GLASS EYE- the film soc HUES- the fine arts soc QUILLUMINATI- the English creative writing soc QUIZZITO- the quiz soc UPSTAGE- the dramatics soc The college arranges inter-disciplinary seminars at national level every year and summer workshops are conducted regularly . The annual fest- REVERIE is considered one of the best fests of south campus especially with the number key attendees and the kind of guests that are invited. This year the guests included the model-turned-actress and alumni of Gargi Urvashi Rautela, veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah as well as various other famously musicians.
