Placements and Internships
- MNCs like LNT, Ford, Renault, Sundaram Clayton, VA Tech Wabag, Tata steel etc hire candidates from the Mechanical engineering department. Microsoft Amazon, Flipkart, Samsung, eBay, PayPal, Snapdeal include some of the major corporates which hire from the Computer Science department. Qualcomm, Texas Instruments include MNCs that hire from Electronics, while Mu Sigma, Latent View, Bridgei2i are analytics companies that offer business and technology perspectives for engineering graduates from my college.
- Average package for Mechanical engineering graduates are 4.5LPA, computer science would be around 7LPA. Highest package of 15LPA was offered to a computer science graduate by eBay.
- Alumni network is pretty strong with Alumnus from major fields including Entrepreneurship like Dhiraj and Ambiga from Mu Sigma, K Srikanth the cricketer and also BCCI selection chairman.
College Infrastructure and Hostel Facilities
- There are about 30 hotels inclusive of separate hostels for girls and boys. First years have a combined hostel where students of every department are mixed while in the subsequent years, department wise hostels are allocated to students. There's a separate hostel for students enrolled through NRI quota charging 50000 per year. College being located right in the centre of the city.
- PG availability, houses rentals are all available at the considerably economical rate.
- Anna University Canteen is one of the most shot after food joints in the city with delicious food items charged at a very reasonable rate. Infrastructure in the campus though has underwent renovations in the recent years, the British architecture maintains its class and glory
Entrance Exams and Admissions
- The student can apply in College of Engineering Anna University through NRI quota where candidates apply with their CBSE or Tamil Nadu State Board PCM cutoffs. A rank list was published based on the PCM cutoffs of all applied candidates and the selection of courses was based on the availability of seats in the respective course when the candidate's respective rank appears. Mechanical engineering had 14 seats reserved for candidates through NRI quota. With a PCM cutoff of 190, I was ranked 64 out of the 200 ought applicants through NRI quota. I was lucky to grab the last seat in Mechanical
Academics and Faculty
- The daily routine class timings typically range from 8.30 am to4 pm inclusive of classroom and laboratory sessions. Examinations are held at the end of every semester where students are graded on a scale of S to E, S being the grade for the top 10 percentile in every subject. Students have to submit 1 project in each semester of their final year.
Fees and Scholarships
- For most students, the course fees are about 8000 per semester while for students from NRI quota at College of Engineering Anna University.
- It is 7500$ per year Scholarships are provided to study from reserved classes in case of requirement.
